Job Description
Lead a company where customer care is the growth engine. Exodus Moving & Storage is a Fort Collins-based interstate moving and storage company and an interstate agent for Wheaton World Wide Moving — a BBB Torch Award for Ethics winner and Wheaton's Agent of the Year. We've built our reputation on a simple truth: moving is one of the most stressful experiences in a person's life, and the companies that win are the ones whose customers feel completely cared for from the first phone call to the last item placed in their new home. That care produces 5-star reviews and referrals. Referrals produce demand. And demand is what grows our crews and our company. We are hiring a General Manager to own that entire chain. The Opportunity Reporting directly to the Owner/CEO, you will lead the day-to-day operation of the business and serve as the single point of operational accountability. This is the senior operating role in the company — created so that ownership can focus on strategy, finance, and business development while you run a business that performs reliably and profitably every day. What You'll Own
- Customer experience, end to end: Set and enforce the standard of empathetic, on-brand communication across every customer touchpoint — and make excellent care the reason customers refer us.
- Daily operations: Scheduling, dispatch, job execution, fleet, and facilities — driving efficiency, on-time performance, and service quality.
- Workforce growth: Build a repeatable engine for recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and retaining moving crews so staffing keeps pace with referral-driven demand.
- Team leadership: Lead and develop a team spanning operations, dispatch, move consultants, move coordinators, and business development & marketing.
- Marketing and business development execution: Contribute to and implement the marketing strategy, oversee community outreach and referral partnerships, and ensure business development activity converts to booked jobs.
- Financial performance: Manage to budget and KPIs, with focus on job-costing accuracy, margin, safety, and claims reduction. Who You Are
- A proven leader of customer-centered service operations — you have defined and implemented how a company cares for customers in a way that measurably drives reviews, referrals, and demand. This is the single most important qualification.
- Experienced in operations or general management within a service, logistics, moving/relocation, trades, or field-operations business.
- Skilled at recruiting and retaining hourly and field-based crews.
- Financially literate — comfortable owning a budget and managing to a number.
- A strong, accountable people leader and an excellent communicator, written and verbal.
- A systems builder and a roll-up-your-sleeves operator who stays close to the work. What Success Looks Like in Your First Year
- Customer service expectations are consistently met with excellent communication, accurate pricing, and integrity — we do what we say we will do, when we say we will do it — and our reviews and referrals show it.
- Demand grows, and crew capacity grows with it.
- Safety, claims, and margin all improve measurably.
- The business runs day-to-day without routine owner involvement. Compensation Target total compensation of $100,000
- 150,000: competitive base salary plus a performance bonus tied to customer-experience, operational, and financial results.
Pay:
$100,000.00- $150,000.
