Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and experienced General Manager - Landscaping to lead and oversee all aspects of our landscaping operations. In this pivotal role, you will drive the success of outdoor projects, manage teams of skilled professionals, and ensure the highest standards of grounds maintenance, landscape design, and client satisfaction. Your leadership will inspire a motivated crew, coordinate complex construction projects, and uphold safety and quality standards across all operations. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate outdoor enthusiast with a knack for team management and a deep understanding of horticulture and landscaping practices. Responsibilities Lead and manage all landscaping operations, including lawn care, landscape maintenance, hardscape installation, and plant care, ensuring projects are completed on time and within scope. Supervise and coordinate crews, providing clear direction, training, and support to maximize productivity and morale. Oversee irrigation system management, including installation, troubleshooting, repairs, and ongoing maintenance to ensure healthy landscapes. Identify various plants, trees, shrubs, and ground covers to maintain healthy landscapes and inform planting strategies. Manage outdoor work activities involving grounds maintenance equipment operation such as mowers, trimmers, blowers, irrigation tools, and hardscape machinery. Coordinate with clients to understand their landscaping needs while ensuring compliance with safety standards and environmental regulations. Operate company vehicles responsibly for project site visits or material transport while maintaining proper vehicle records. Plan and execute construction projects related to landscape enhancements or new installations with precision and efficiency. Ensure team adherence to safety protocols during all outdoor activities to prevent accidents or injuries. Maintain detailed documentation of project progress, equipment maintenance logs, crew schedules, and safety reports. Skills Extensive knowledge of lawn care techniques, landscape maintenance practices, horticulture principles, and plant identification. Proven supervising experience in landscaping or groundskeeping environments with strong crew management skills. Expertise in irrigation management—installation, troubleshooting, repairs—and irrigation system operation. Skilled in hardscape construction including patios, walkways, retaining walls, and other outdoor structures. Strong leadership qualities with the ability to motivate teams and foster a collaborative work environment. Experience managing construction projects from planning through execution with attention to detail. Proficiency in operating grounds maintenance equipment such as mowers, trimmers, blowers, excavators, and other landscaping tools. Knowledge of tree care practices including pruning techniques and health assessments. Ability to identify various plants accurately to support sustainable landscape design. Excellent outdoor work experience with a focus on safety procedures in physically demanding environments. Effective communication skills for coordinating with clients, team members, vendors, and stakeholders.
