ORGANIZATIONAL BACKGROUND
Established in 1977, Prevail Illinois, formerly known as Sexual Assault Counseling and Information Service (SACIS), is an independent, not-for-profit organization dedicated to the healing and empowerment of sexual assault survivors (and support person) through non-judgmental crisis intervention counseling, individual and group counseling, prevention education, and medical and legal advocacy in Coles, Crawford, Cumberland, and Southern Clark, Edward, Jasper, Lawrence, Robinson, Wabash Counties in Illinois.

LOCATION
This position is located at our Charleston Office, which will serve as the employee's primary (home) office. In alignment with programmatic needs. Mileage reimbursement will be provided in accordance with organizational policy for travel to worksites outside of the designated home office.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Prevention & Volunteer Services provides strategic oversight and leadership for the Prevention Department. This role collaborates with the Executive Director and other Prevail Directors to ensure Prevail Illinois consistently delivers high-quality prevention services while maintaining full compliance with all funding and regulatory requirements. The Director is responsible for the effective day-to-day operation of the Prevention Department, including supervision of staff and oversight of prevention programming, trainings, social media presence, and promotional activities. Leadership Responsibilities
- Responsible for planning, organization, and direction of the department's operations and programs
- Develop the annual budget with the Executive Director and Program Committee and provide oversight for departmental spending against that budget.
- Provides recommendations to the Executive Director on alignment with organizational strategic goals, performance benchmarks, and budget needs.
- Prepares accurate and timely analyses that capture and communicate programmatic results, variances, and performance trends.
- Provides leadership to and manages the efforts of the department workforce (including staff, volunteers, and interns) to ensure appropriate support of the department.
- Retains a diverse, highly qualified staff and volunteers by providing career coaching, growth, timely performance reviews, and personal development for workers.
- Serves as a member of the organization's Leadership Team, coordinating and working with other Directors and the Executive Director on issues affecting the organization. Staff Relations and Management
- Supervise a team of Preventionists and Volunteers.
- Promptly respond to requests for Prevention services.
- Maintain accurate records for volunteers.
- Participate in regular supervision of Prevention programming and staff meetings.
- Maintain accurate records and complete and submit required paperwork and reports as required. Organizational Leadership & External Relations
- Provide oversight of Prevention programming, Prevention Staff & Volunteers.
- Represent Prevail Illinois professionally and knowledgeably to the public, government agencies, funders, partner organizations, and the media
- Drive departmental implementation of strategic goals and organizational priorities, identifying creative and innovative ways to maintain and build programs that fit the needs of the community
- Create and conduct professional training programs.
- Participate in collaborative efforts with other organizations to advance community partnerships
- Act as an ambassador for the organization to the community, including providing presentations and promoting prevention, training, and volunteer opportunities. Other Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain confidentiality of client and agency information.
- Support the mission and vision of the agency.
- Appropriately document work activities in a timely manner.
- Provide institutional advocacy, information and referral, crisis intervention, and training presentations as directed.
- Complete all annual training requirements.
- Assist in developing protocols for the agency and programs.
- Develop and deliver content for awareness and training events.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
- BA/BS in Business or Education preferred
- An associate's degree in a Human Services-related field is required. Candidates with an associate's degree must demonstrate sufficient knowledge and competency in crisis intervention, trauma-informed service and leadership skills.
- Previous experience addressing sexual violence/gender-based violence and working with diverse populations (BIPOC, disabled, LGBTQIA+) communities is desired.
- Three or more years of experience with conducting training, prevention curriculum, and/or managing volunteers.
- Familiarity with principles and curriculum of sexual assault prevention programming
- Excellent public speaking, presentation skills, oral and written communication skills.
