Job Description
Position SummaryThe Assistant Manager supports the Manager with the daily operations of Crown Nail Lounge. This role helps ensure excellent customer service, smooth appointment flow, professional staff performance, cleanliness, and an organized salon environment. Key Responsibilities Customer Service Greet and assist clients in a friendly and professional manner. Support check-in and check-out. Answer phone calls and assist with appointment scheduling. Review daily appointments and prepare for special requests or service needs. Handle minor customer concerns professionally and escalate serious issues to the Manager. Assist clients during wait times. Encourage clients to rebook before leaving the salon. Staff Support Help monitor employee attendance and punctuality. Make sure opening and closing checklists are completed. Assist with fair client rotation and technician assignments according to salon policy. Monitor employee breaks and accurate clock-in/clock-out procedures. Reinforce dress code, cleanliness, customer service, and salon standards. Report employee conflicts, performance concerns, or policy violations to the Manager. Assist with onboarding and training new employees. Daily Salon Operations Inspect the salon before opening. Make sure the reception area, manicure stations, pedicure area, waiting area, and restrooms remain clean and organized. Confirm that reception and clean-up staff complete assigned duties. Make sure towels, supplies, and workstations are ready for service. Monitor proper sanitation and disinfection procedures. Report equipment, plumbing, pedicure chair, maintenance, or facility problems immediately. Sales & Appointment Management Monitor daily appointment flow and available openings. Help fill last-minute cancellations and open appointment times. Encourage rebooking and appropriate service upgrades. Inform clients about current promotions, gift cards, and salon programs. Monitor cancellations and no-shows. Report unusual drops in appointments or sales to the Manager. Do not issue unauthorized discounts, refunds, or complimentary services. Inventory & Supplies Monitor commonly used salon supplies. Notify management before important supplies run low. Assist with regular inventory counts. Keep storage and supply areas organized. Do not place unauthorized orders or purchases. Daily ReportingAt the end of the shift or business day, the Assistant Manager should provide management with a brief report including: Daily sales Appointment activity Walk-ins Cancellations and no-shows Customer complaints or concerns Staff issues Supplies needed Maintenance issues Items requiring follow-up Assistant Manager Authority The Assistant Manager may: Assist with appointment coordination. Help manage technician rotation according to salon policy. Resolve minor customer service issues. Assign cleaning and operational duties. Remind employees of salon policies and standards. Contact the Manager or Owner when approval or additional authority is needed. The Assistant Manager may not independently: Change employee pay or commission. Hire, terminate, or suspend employees. Change salon policies. Approve major refunds, discounts, or complimentary services. Purchase equipment or enter contracts. Make major schedule changes without management approval. Argue with clients or employees in front of customers. Qualifications Strong customer service and communication skills. Reliable, responsible, and punctual. Professional appearance and attitude. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Ability to remain calm in a busy salon environment. Ability to work effectively with different personalities. Comfortable using POS and appointment scheduling systems. Leadership skills with a team-focused management style. Salon, spa, retail, hospitality, or management experience preferred.
