Job Description
Are you a hands-on hotel leader who enjoys leading people, solving problems, and keeping operations running smoothly? We're looking for an experienced Assistant General Manager who can help lead our 129-room Holiday Inn Express & Suites and deliver an exceptional guest experience while maintaining high operational standards. This is a leadership position for someone who is organized, accountable, and willing to jump in wherever needed. Every day is different, and we're looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced hotel environment. What You'll Do As the Assistant General Manager, you'll work alongside the General Manager to oversee the daily operation of the hotel, including: Lead and support all hotel departments including Front Desk, Housekeeping, Laundry, Maintenance, Breakfast, and Janitorial. Ensure exceptional guest service and resolve guest concerns professionally. Coach, train, and develop department leaders and team members. Conduct property walks to ensure cleanliness, safety, and brand standards. Assist with scheduling, staffing, hiring, onboarding, and employee development. Monitor guest satisfaction scores and online reviews while ensuring timely responses. Oversee daily reports, cash handling, deposits, audits, and operational paperwork. Ensure SOPs, IHG brand standards, and company policies are consistently followed. Assist with performance evaluations, coaching, corrective action, and accountability. Support revenue management by monitoring occupancy, room inventory, and operational readiness. Follow up on maintenance issues, preventive maintenance, and work orders. Help prepare the hotel for inspections and quality assurance visits. Serve as Manager on Duty as needed. We're Looking For Someone Who Is Highly organized and detail-oriented Able to prioritize multiple tasks throughout the day Comfortable making decisions independently A strong communicator and team leader Positive, professional, and approachable Accountable and dependable Able to hold themselves and others accountable Willing to work alongside the team—not just supervise it Qualifications Minimum 2 years of hotel experience preferred Previous Assistant General Manager, Front Office Manager, or Department Head experience preferred Experience with hotel PMS systems (Opera experience preferred) Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Experience with scheduling, payroll, coaching, and employee development Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods Lift up to 40 pounds occasionally Frequent walking throughout a five-story hotel Ability to respond quickly to guest and operational needs What We Offer Competitive salary Paid Time Off Health, Dental & Vision Insurance 401(k) Hotel travel discounts through IHG Paid training Opportunity for growth within our management company
