General Manager The Bruce Convention Center — Hopkinsville, KY Full-Time | Exempt The Bruce Convention Center is seeking an experienced, driven General Manager to lead the continued growth and success of our organization. This role is responsible for the overall leadership and financial performance of The Bruce, with a strong emphasis on sales, business development, client relationships, team leadership, and exceptional customer service . The ideal candidate is a relationship-builder and results-oriented leader who enjoys pursuing new business, developing community and industry partnerships, leading a team, and creating memorable experiences for clients and guests. The General Manager reports directly to the Board of Directors and provides leadership and oversight across all areas of the organization. Key Responsibilities Lead the overall direction, sales efforts, and business growth of The Bruce. Develop and implement sales and business development strategies to increase bookings and revenue. Actively pursue new business, including conferences, corporate meetings, high-profile events, and other business opportunities. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, prospective clients, vendors, sponsors, and community partners. Lead sales and customer service efforts with an emphasis on follow-up, closing business, repeat bookings, profitability, and client satisfaction. Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate staff. Develop, revise, and implement operational policies and procedures. Work with the Office Manager, Finance Chair, and department leaders to prepare and manage annual budgets, monitor expenses, and maximize revenue. Monitor costs, revenue, pricing, and other factors affecting the financial performance of the organization. Prepare proposals and negotiate contracts with clients, vendors, and service providers. Plan and implement advertising, promotions, and community outreach that support sales goals. Resolve customer concerns and maintain high standards of client satisfaction. Work with department managers to ensure the facility is clean, safe, and prepared for clients and events. Ensure compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations, including health and safety standards. Provide oversight of health, safety, security, and emergency systems in coordination with department managers. Represent The Bruce at community, tourism, Chamber, networking, and industry events that may generate new business. Stay informed about competitor activity, pricing, and market trends and communicate relevant information to staff and the Board of Directors. Conduct regular staff and sales meetings and contribute to organizational planning and strategy. Qualifications Minimum of five years of sales, business development, or management experience in hospitality, events, conference services, or a related field. Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or a related field preferred. Strong sales leadership and team management skills. Experience in client relationship management and customer service. Knowledge of budgeting, pricing, and financial management. Business development and event sales experience. Strong problem-solving, negotiation, and decision-making abilities. Excellent communication, organization, time management, and follow-through. Experience with marketing, networking, and community outreach. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with staff, department leaders, the Board of Directors, and community partners. Schedule & Physical Requirements This is a full-time, exempt leadership position in an event-driven environment. The position requires frequent interaction with clients, staff, vendors, and event attendees. Evening, weekend, and holiday work may be required based on the event schedule. Candidates must be able to stand and walk for extended periods as needed and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
