Trim Shop Supervisor, who oversees 10-20 Operators / Pickers / Receivers About the Position FALK Sheet Metal is FALK's growing trim shop business — today an in-house operation that supplies trim for FALK's insulated metal panel (IMP) buildings, with plans to expand into a standalone commercial business supplying trim to single-skin sheet metal buildings as well. The General Manager owns full P&L responsibility for FALK Sheet Metal, including production, materials, labor, and margin performance across the trim shop and its associated warehouse operation. This role is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the trim shop floor — currently two slitters/shears, two state-of-the-art automated benders, a hemmer, and a router CNC, with additional machinery planned as the operation grows quickly — as well as the warehousing, receiving, picking, and shipping of all FALK Sheet Metal accessories. The General Manager leads a Trim Shop Supervisor and, through that role, 15-20 Operators, Pickers, and Receivers. This person must be a creative, hands-on operator who can design and continuously improve process flows on the shop floor and across the warehouse, while building FALK Sheet Metal into a scalable, standalone business unit. Role Responsibilities Mission, Values & Customer Focus Partner with leadership to understand and support FALK's Mission and Values, and cascade that mission and those values throughout the FALK Sheet Metal team, including actively educating and reinforcing the team's understanding of FALK's mission and values on an ongoing basis. Champion a customer-friendly and installer-friendly approach across the business, building FALK Sheet Metal's reputation as the industry expert not only at producing trim, but at producing trim that is easy and reliable to install. Train Operators and the Trim Shop Supervisor to hold every piece of trim to a standard that supports the customer and installer in the field — accurate dimensions, clean bends and finishes, and packaging that protects the product and speeds up installation. Proactively identify ways FALK Sheet Metal's products, packaging, or processes can be adjusted to make installation easier or faster for the customer, and feed those ideas back into production and product decisions. P&L and Business Ownership Own full profit-and-loss responsibility for FALK Sheet Metal, including revenue, material cost, labor cost, scrap/waste, and overall margin performance. Build and manage the annual operating budget for the trim shop and warehouse, and report financial performance against budget on a regular cadence. Develop the pricing, quoting, and product strategy needed to expand FALK Sheet Metal from an internal supplier of trim for FALK's IMP buildings into a standalone business selling trim to single-skin sheet metal building customers. Identify and pursue new revenue opportunities, including new trim profiles, gauges, finishes, and customer segments, as the business grows. Partner with Sales and estimating on lead time, capacity, and pricing for new and existing customers. Production & Equipment Management Directly manage daily production on two slitters/shears, two state-of-the-art automated benders, a hemmer, and a router CNC, adding equipment and capacity quickly as the operation grows. Schedule and sequence jobs across the shop floor to meet customer lead times while maximizing machine utilization and minimizing material waste. Own preventive maintenance planning and vendor relationships for all trim shop machinery to minimize downtime. Maintain quality standards for finished trim, including gauge, finish, bend accuracy, and packaging, and resolve quality issues at the source. Evaluate and recommend capital equipment purchases (additional slitters, benders, hemmers, CNC capability, and other trim shop machinery) as the business scales. Equipment & Automation Strategy Own the ongoing evaluation of new machinery, equipment, and automation for FALK Sheet Metal — this is a core, ongoing responsibility of the role, not an occasional project. Continuously bring forward specific, well-researched proposals to improve efficiency, speed, and accuracy — for example, robotic arms or automated material handling, machinery that reduces the staffing required per bender, or equipment capable of running unattended overnight without an operator present. Identify and propose new equipment or machinery that would allow FALK Sheet Metal to add new product lines — for example, a rollformer to produce gutters and downspouts — rather than waiting for these ideas to come from company leadership. Build the business case for each equipment recommendation, including expected impact on labor cost, throughput, quality, and payback period, and present it to leadership for approval. Stay current on new machinery, tooling, and automation available in the sheet metal and trim industry, and proactively assess how it could apply to FALK Sheet Metal's operation. Warehousing, Receiving & Shipping Own all warehousing, receiving, picking, and shipping operations for FALK Sheet Metal accessories, including inventory accuracy and storage organization. Design and implement efficient receiving and put-away processes for incoming coil, raw material, and purchased accessories. Design and implement accurate, efficient picking and shipping processes to support both internal IMP building orders and, over time, direct-to-customer trim orders. Set and monitor inventory accuracy, on-time shipping, and order accuracy targets for the warehouse team. Process Design & Continuous Improvement Design, document, and continuously improve process flows across the trim shop and warehouse — material flow, machine sequencing, work cell layout, and handoffs between production and shipping. Bring a creative, problem-solving approach to layout and workflow as the shop floor grows in headcount and equipment, ensuring the physical space and processes scale without creating bottlenecks. Establish and track KPIs for the business unit — throughput, scrap rate, on-time delivery, safety, and labor efficiency — and drive corrective action when targets are missed. People Leadership & Safety Directly manage the Trim Shop Supervisor, and through that role, provide leadership and direction to 15-20 Operators, Pickers, and Receivers. Hire, train, and develop shop floor and warehouse personnel; build a bench of skilled operators as the business grows. Set individual and team performance expectations, and conduct regular performance reviews. Own the safety program for FALK Sheet Metal, including machine guarding, safe operating procedures, and a strong safety culture on the shop floor and in the warehouse. Foster a collaborative, accountable, high-communication culture across production and warehouse teams. Cross-Department Collaboration Partner with FALK's Estimating, Project Management, and Production teams to ensure trim supply supports IMP building schedules without disruption. Communicate proactively with leadership on capacity, growth opportunities, and constraints as FALK Sheet Metal expands into the single-skin building market. Represent FALK Sheet Metal in company-wide planning and strategy discussions. Qualifications 5+ years of management experience in a sheet metal shop or trim shop environment, including direct oversight of production personnel. Hands-on working knowledge of trim benders, slitters/shears, hemmers, router CNC equipment, brake presses, and related sheet metal trim shop machinery. Demonstrated experience owning P&L for a production or manufacturing business unit, including budgeting and margin management. Proven ability to design, document, and improve process flows on a production floor and in a warehouse/distribution setting. Experience managing warehousing, receiving, picking, and shipping operations. Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop supervisors and hourly production/warehouse teams of 15 or more. Strong understanding of production scheduling, capacity planning, and equipment utilization. Track record of evaluating and recommending new machinery, tooling, or automation (such as robotics, automated material handling, or reduced-staffing/unattended equipment) to improve efficiency, speed, and accuracy. Experience in metal building, insulated metal panel, or construction products industries preferred. Strong safety mindset with experience implementing safety programs in a manufacturing environment.
