Job Description

We are looking for an experienced agricultural and commercial lending professional to grow client relationships and expand loan and deposit business for a growing commercial bank in southwest Minnesota. This role focuses on developing new business, advising clients on financing solutions, and managing a portfolio with sound credit judgment and disciplined pricing. The ideal candidate brings ag industry knowledge, consultative sales ability, and a proven record of building long-term relationships within the agriculture and business community.
Responsibilities:
  • Develop new lending and deposit opportunities by building relationships with agricultural businesses, commercial clients, and referral sources across the market.
  • Create tailored financing strategies by assessing client goals, identifying needs, and presenting lending solutions that align with both client objectives and bank expectations.
  • Lead the full business development cycle, including market outreach, meeting preparation, discovery conversations, proposal development, negotiation, and closing.
  • Evaluate credit requests to confirm appropriate structure, purpose, risk profile, and pricing in accordance with established lending standards.
  • Oversee an assigned portfolio by maintaining strong client contact, reviewing performance, and ensuring ongoing adherence to credit quality expectations.
  • Expand existing relationships through cross-functional coordination and partner referrals that deepen client engagement and increase account value.
  • Monitor agricultural market conditions, including commodity trends, land values, agronomy factors, and borrower financial performance, to support risk assessment and client advisory efforts.
  • Represent the organization in the local agriculture and business community through industry events, networking activities, and volunteer involvement to strengthen market presence.
