Job Description:
Divisional General Manager - Residential Construction This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for an experienced construction professional who understands how to lead people, manage projects, drive financial performance, and grow a successful division. The Divisional General Manager will have meaningful influence across operations, estimating, project execution, business development, customer relationships, and team performance. This role is ideal for a construction leader who can move comfortably between the field, the financials, and the bigger strategic picture. What You'll Lead Provide strategic direction for the division while keeping operations aligned with the company's long-term goals. Oversee the division's financial performance, including budgets, estimates, billings, receivables, and job-related payables. Lead estimating and project management for key residential construction projects and client accounts. Plan workflow, allocate internal resources, and ensure projects are executed efficiently and profitably. Establish performance, quality, productivity, and customer-service standards. Identify operational challenges early and implement practical corrective action. Lead contract negotiations and strengthen relationships with clients, vendors, trade partners, and industry partners. Develop new business while expanding relationships with existing clients. Recruit, onboard, coach, and develop employees across the division. Conduct performance reviews and provide clear, constructive feedback. Build a culture of accountability, collaboration, craftsmanship, and continuous improvement. Stay informed about construction trends, industry developments, market conditions, and competitor activity. Represent the company through professional associations, networking events, and industry organizations. What We're Looking For At least 10 years of residential construction experience. Progressive leadership experience in construction operations or general management. Proven ability to manage financial performance, estimating, project execution, sales, quality, and customer satisfaction. Strong understanding of construction budgets, schedules, contracts, workflow, and project profitability. Experience leading and developing construction professionals at multiple levels. Strong decision-making, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills. A hands-on leadership style with the ability to balance field realities and executive-level priorities. Commercial construction experience is a plus. A bachelor's degree in construction management, building science, business, or a related field is preferred. An MBA or additional business leadership education is a plus. The Right Leadership Style The successful candidate will be visible, decisive, and accountable. This leader will understand that strong construction operations depend on clear expectations, accurate financial management, reliable project execution, excellent client relationships, and a team that takes pride in its work. This is an opportunity to do more than manage daily operations. The Divisional General Manager will help shape the future of the division, strengthen its culture, develop its people, and build a foundation for continued success. If you are a proven residential construction leader ready to take ownership of people, projects, performance, and growth, we would welcome a conversation.
