Wilmington, NC Position Type:
W2
Employee Compensation:
From per hour, based on experience and fit, plus eligible bonuses
Schedule:
Flexible availability required, especially evenings, weekends, and coverage needs Before You Apply Your interview starts with your first message. At Hempire Innovations, communication, responsiveness, reliability, and follow-through are evaluated immediately. You will be asked direct questions about your availability, vehicle, phone access, work consistency, and ability to handle responsibility. If you give vague answers, skip questions, respond inconsistently, or show poor communication, you will not move forward. This role requires clear communication, mature judgment, real dependability, and the ability to take responsibility without constant supervision. Position Overview Hempire Innovations is hiring a Management Trainee to be trained across core store, fulfillment, customer support, delivery, packaging, and brand operations with the expectation of taking on real responsibility inside the company over time. This is a hands-on management-track support role for someone who can help support store operations, uphold brand standards, improve team accountability, protect the customer experience, and coordinate with ownership to learn how Hempire Innovations expects things to be done. When the owner is not physically present, this person is not taking full control of the store. They will be expected to communicate with ownership, follow direction, maintain standards, and help keep operations moving according to how the business is being trained and structured. You are not being hired for one narrow function. You are being brought in to learn how Hempire Innovations operates as a business so you can help keep the company organized, consistent, accountable, and scalable across store operations, staff coordination, customer experience, fulfillment, local delivery flow, shipment preparation, branded product preparation, customer support, and brand-facing execution. A major goal of this position is to reduce operational friction across the business. That means helping orders move more smoothly, supporting store coverage, improving communication between workers and drivers, reducing delays, keeping tasks organized, and helping the day-to-day operation stay steady when multiple needs are happening at once. This role is also designed to give ownership more support during the day so higher-level business operations can be handled without the store losing coverage. This may include inventory planning, vendor communication, marketing, systems, team training, growth planning, and administrative work. This role is for someone who wants to grow with Hempire Innovations specifically. It is not for someone looking to casually collect hours, pass through temporarily, study the business for their own future venture, or use this company as a stepping stone while planning their next move. About Hempire Innovations Hempire Innovations is a hemp cannabinoid dispensary serving Wilmington, North Carolina through retail sales, local delivery, curbside pickup, and nationwide shipping. The business is fast-moving, system-driven, and built around reliability, speed, compliance, customer experience, and strong brand presentation. Hempire Innovations is actively being built for growth. This role is for someone who wants to become a serious part of that growth by becoming useful across the operation and earning greater responsibility over time. Hours & Growth Expectations This position may start with lighter hours in the beginning as we build the team, train properly, and adjust coverage needs. Hours and responsibility are expected to grow as business needs grow, delivery volume increases, shipment volume increases, packaging needs expand, staff coverage improves, and the team structure becomes more stable. Applicants should understand that the beginning and middle of this process may require patience, flexibility, and consistency. We are building the team carefully, not rushing people into full schedules or higher responsibility before the fit is proven. This role is best for someone who can start with flexible support, prove reliability, earn trust, and grow into more responsibility as the company's needs increase. Key ResponsibilitiesStore Operations Support Help support day-to-day store flow during scheduled shifts. Maintain a clean, organized, professional, and customer-ready retail environment. Support retail sales, curbside pickup, online orders, local delivery flow, shipment preparation, customer support, and branded product preparation. Help balance storefront needs with fulfillment, customer support, deliveries, shipments, and packaging tasks. Step into operational gaps and help solve problems while staying aligned with company direction. Follow and uphold internal procedures, communication standards, and company expectations. Help make sure the store remains covered and operationally steady during active business hours. Team & Driver Coordination Help keep workers and drivers aligned during active business operations. Support route readiness, delivery handoff, order accuracy, and communication flow. Help reduce customer wait times by keeping orders moving. Communicate clearly with team members during busy periods. Help reinforce standards for urgency, professionalism, reliability, and follow-through. Escalate issues to ownership when needed without creating unnecessary confusion. Lead by example instead of just telling others what to do. Customer Experience Assist customers professionally and respectfully. Help protect the quality and consistency of the customer experience. Answer basic product questions without making medical claims or exaggerated product claims. Support customer questions related to pickup, delivery, shipment status, product availability, and order issues. Handle customer-facing situations with maturity, patience, and good judgment. Escalate complaints, refunds, substitutions, compliance questions, and unusual situations appropriately. Protect customer privacy and handle customer information responsibly. Fulfillment, Shipments & Delivery Flow Support accurate preparation of online orders, pickup orders, delivery orders, and shipment orders. Check products, quantities, labels, customer details, and packaging before fulfillment. Help organize orders so the store, drivers, and fulfillment flow stay aligned. Assist with shipment packing, carrier drop-offs, and shipping organization as needed. Help track delivery and driving-related information according to company procedures. Maintain discretion when handling hemp-derived cannabinoid products and customer orders. Brand Product Prep & Packaging Assist with preparing Hempire Innovations branded products for retail, delivery, and shipment. Help package, label, organize, and stage branded products according to company procedures. Support product prep during occasional daytime packaging needs. Check labels, counts, packaging materials, package sizes, and finished items for accuracy. Learn how to create, update, and print product labels accurately. Help divide products into the correct quantity variants for retail, delivery, and shipment. Support organized packaging plans for products with several quantity variants. Communicate packaging shortages, product issues, and preparation needs promptly. Brand Standards & Business Support Uphold Hempire Innovations' brand presentation, communication standards, and operational expectations. Represent the company professionally in customer-facing situations. Help identify problems, inefficiencies, and areas where the operation can improve. Support store organization, inventory flow, product presentation, and customer-facing consistency. Learn the business deeply enough to understand how ownership wants tasks handled and standards maintained. Protect company information, customer information, vendor information, staff information, and internal business operations. Requirements Must be 21 years of age or older. Must have a valid driver's license. Must have a reliable personal vehicle. Must have current vehicle registration and insurance. Must have an active smartphone with reliable service, navigation, and app capability. Must have flexible availability, especially evenings, weekends, and coverage needs. Must be comfortable supporting retail sales, fulfillment, local delivery flow, shipment preparation, customer support, and branded product packaging. Must be willing to learn product label creation, label updates, label printing, and quantity variant organization. Must communicate clearly, directly, and professionally. Must respond promptly during scheduled work periods. Must be dependable, punctual, consistent, and accountable. Must be comfortable working independently while still coordinating with ownership and company direction. Must have mature judgment and the ability to handle responsibility without hand-holding. Must be able to help coordinate tasks, workers, drivers, orders, and daily operational flow. Must be comfortable holding standards, following direction, and helping others stay aligned with company procedures. Must be professional with customers, coworkers, drivers, vendors, and management. Must be comfortable working with hemp-derived cannabinoid products. Must be able to maintain confidentiality regarding customers, orders, vendors, staff, systems, and internal operations. Preferred Qualifications Previous management, assistant management, shift lead, keyholder, supervisor, team lead, dispatch, coordination, or operations support experience. Retail, dispensary, delivery, fulfillment, warehouse, hospitality, customer service, and sales experience. Experience helping coordinate workers, drivers, shifts, tasks, and daily operations. Experience with online orders, inventory, POS systems, Shopify, shipping platforms, customer messages, and delivery routes. Packaging, labeling, inventory, production prep, and order fulfillment experience. Experience creating, updating, printing, and organizing product labels. Experience organizing products by quantity variants, package sizes, and product variations. Strong attention to detail. Strong communication skills. Ability to stay calm and professional during busy periods. Interest in growing with Hempire Innovations long term. Who This Is For This role is for someone who wants real responsibility inside a growing business and is capable of growing into a trusted management-support role over time. It fits someone who can lead by example, communicate clearly, stay composed under pressure, take ownership over outcomes, and help keep both people and operations aligned. You should be comfortable supporting the full Hempire Innovations operation, not just completing isolated tasks. That includes store coverage, customer experience, delivery flow, shipment flow, product preparation, team accountability, brand presentation, and operational consistency. Someone who can learn how to create labels, update labels, print labels, divide products into the right quantity variants, keep orders moving, and help reduce stress on the storefront will be especially valuable to the team. Who This Is Not For This is not a placeholder job for someone looking for temporary work, a side hustle, or easy hours until something better comes along. It is also not for someone looking to learn the industry so they can later apply that knowledge to their own brand, store, project, or venture. Hempire Innovations is looking for someone who wants to contribute to this business, help strengthen this operation, and grow here for the right reasons. If you are only looking for something to hold you over, observe the business from the inside, or gain exposure for your own future plans, this is not the right fit. Compliance & Professional Standards Hempire Innovations operates in the hemp-derived cannabinoid industry. All employees must follow company compliance standards at all times. You may not make medical claims, pressure customers, misrepresent products, discuss internal operations with outsiders, or handle customer information carelessly. Professional conduct is required during every shift, every customer interaction, every delivery, every shipment, every packaging task, and every customer support message. Important Notes This is a W2 position. This is a management-track support role, not an ownership role or full-control store manager role. When ownership is not physically present, this person will still coordinate with ownership and follow company direction. Ownership remains directly involved in major decisions, systems, standards, and business direction. The goal is to train someone who can understand how ownership wants the business operated and help execute those standards consistently. This role requires flexibility and is based on business needs. Evening and weekend availability are important. Hours and responsibilities may vary depending on staffing needs and operational demand. Consistency, responsiveness, judgment, leadership ability, and trustworthiness will directly affect how much responsibility and opportunity you receive. This role is designed for someone who can grow into a trusted management-support position within Hempire Innovations.
