Position Overview:
The Automotive General Manager (GM) is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the daily operations, sales, and financial performance of the automotive dealership. This position requires strong management skills, industry knowledge, and a strategic vision to drive growth, ensure customer satisfaction, and meet financial goals. The GM will work closely with department heads, including Sales, and Finance teams, to create a high-performing and efficient operation.
Key Responsibilities:
The General Manager has the following responsibilities: Lead and manage the overall dealership, ensuring all departments (sales, administration) run smoothly and efficiently. Provide leadership, guidance, and support to department managers and staff. Foster a positive and high-performance work culture, focusing on team collaboration, employee development, and motivation. Develop and implement effective sales strategies to achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets. Oversee the sales process, ensuring high customer satisfaction, retention, and profitability. Collaborate with the marketing team to create promotional campaigns and advertisements that attract customers and build brand awareness. Monitor industry trends and adjust sales strategies to stay competitive. Develop and manage the annual budget, ensuring that the dealership operates within financial targets. Analyze financial performance reports, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions. Control inventory levels, optimize vehicle ordering, and manage pricing strategies to improve profitability. Ensure exceptional customer service at all touchpoints, from initial inquiry to post-sale follow-up. Address customer complaints and concerns promptly, maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction. Monitor customer feedback and use insights to improve services and products offered. Ensure the dealership complies with all local, state, and federal regulations, including health, safety, and labor laws. Oversee the maintenance of dealership facilities, ensuring they meet brand standards and provide a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for customers and staff. Implement best practices to streamline operations and improve overall efficiency. Recruit, train, and mentor staff to ensure they are knowledgeable, motivated, and capable of delivering outstanding performance. Implement regular training programs to enhance the skills and product knowledge of sales teams. Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback to foster continuous improvement.

Requirements:
The General Manager should have the following skills, education and experience: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Automotive Management, or related field (preferred). Equivalent work experience in the automotive industry will be considered. Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in automotive management or a related leadership role. Proven track record of success in sales management, financial performance, and team leadership within an automotive environment. In-depth knowledge of the automotive industry, including vehicle sales, service operations, and parts management. Strong business acumen and financial management skills. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to analyze data, interpret reports, and make strategic decisions. Proficiency in dealership management systems (DMS), CRM software, and Microsoft Office Suite. Customer-focused with a commitment to delivering outstanding service.
