Client/Job Summary:
Our client is a global investment firm looking for a VP/SVP of Tax to oversee the full tax process for the firm's management company, investment funds, and SPVs. This role offers autonomy and the opportunity to build out a function and work independently. The ideal candidate has experience with will come from private funds tax, preferably with private credit or lending strategies, and have experience navigating complex fund structures, carried interest, GP/management company tax issues, investor reporting, K-1s, international tax matters, and tax structuring for new investments and funds. This is a highly visible role with significant ownership and the opportunity to help shape the firm's tax strategy and infrastructure as it grows.
Key Responsibilities:
Own the firm's global tax function across the management company, funds, and SPVs. Manage all tax compliance, filings, and reporting, including: Partnership and corporate tax returns (1065s, 1120s, etc.) K-1s and investor tax reporting
FATCA/CRS
reporting Tax elections, FBAR filings, estimated tax payments, and other specialized filings Oversee external tax advisors and fund administrators. Support tax accruals and financial statement disclosures. Partner with internal teams on transactions, fund launches, and investment structuring. Conduct tax planning, modeling, and structuring for both onshore and offshore entities. Improve processes, controls, and technology within the tax function as the platform continues to scale.
Key Qualifications:
7+ years of progressive tax experience, ideally with a CPA. Private funds experience, with a strong preference for private credit, direct lending, or loan-focused strategies. Exposure to the unique tax considerations surrounding loan origination, credit products, ECI, fund structuring, and closed-end fund vehicles. Someone who can roll up their sleeves, operate independently, and provide thoughtful input on tax strategy, deal structuring, and complex tax issues. Experience with cross-border structures, offshore entities, and international tax matters is highly valued.
