Vice President of Operations Position Overview Caspersen Roofing is seeking an experienced roofing-industry General Manager to lead the financial, operational, sales, and customer-service performance of our Stow, Ohio business. This role requires proven roofing-industry leadership experience. The successful candidate must understand how a roofing company operates from lead generation, estimating, and sales through permitting, production, job costing, collections, and warranty service. The General Manager will have full accountability for the location's revenue, gross profit, backlog, production capacity, sales performance, customer experience, safety, and team development. This individual will lead sales, production, office, and service personnel while managing subcontractors, suppliers, and local business relationships. The position is ideal for a hands-on leader who understands roofing systems, installation processes, seasonal production demands, crew capacity, material procurement, job-cost controls, and the importance of accurate documentation throughout the roofing project lifecycle. Roofing Experience Required Qualified candidates must have direct experience working for a roofing contractor, exterior-remodeling company, or closely related construction business.

Maintain a full and realistic production schedule based on crew capacity, material availability, permitting, weather, and customer readiness. Ensure approved roofing projects are scheduled promptly and do not remain unnecessarily in backlog. Review the next 10 production days to identify open capacity, scheduling conflicts, material issues, and subcontractor shortages. Coordinate with production leadership to ensure adequate roofing crews, project supervision, service capacity, and subcontractor coverage. Confirm that completed projects are invoiced promptly and punch-list items are completed or formally scheduled. Ensure labor tickets, subcontractor invoices, material orders, change orders, and job documentation are accurate and complete. Monitor workmanship and confirm compliance with manufacturer specifications, local building codes, OSHA requirements, and company standards. Manage callbacks, leaks, workmanship concerns, warranty claims, and other roofing-related customer issues. Build productive relationships with roofing suppliers, manufacturers, subcontractors, inspectors, and local trade partners. Financial and Job-Cost Management Own the location's revenue, gross profit, operating expenses, collections, and overall profitability. Develop and manage budgets, monthly revenue forecasts, production plans, and performance goals. Monitor current-month revenue, completed work, scheduled revenue, backlog, accounts receivable, and job-cost performance. Review sold gross profit compared with produced gross profit and address margin erosion immediately. Investigate material overruns, labor overruns, missed change orders, unapproved work, waste, and pricing errors. Monitor subcontractor and material costs as a percentage of revenue. Ensure approved labor tickets match subcontractor invoices before payment approval. Personally escalate significant or aged accounts-receivable balances. Maintain sufficient backlog to support future revenue goals without creating excessive customer delays or production bottlenecks. Roofing Sales Leadership Lead the Stow location's roofing sales performance and ensure signed sales support current and future production goals. Monitor sales volume, demonstration rate, closing rate, average contract value, sold gross margin, lead conversion, and revenue per lead. Coach sales consultants through ride-alongs, estimate reviews, pipeline reviews, follow-up expectations, and targeted training. Ensure estimates are properly prepared, accurately scoped, and presented during the initial appointment whenever possible. Review low-margin roofing estimates before approval and address estimating or pricing deficiencies. Ensure sales representatives properly document roofing conditions, measurements, product selections, exclusions, and customer expectations. Review unsigned proposals, stale opportunities, insurance claims, rehash opportunities, and customer follow-up activity. Partner with marketing leadership to ensure lead volume supports the location's revenue goals. Develop referral, canvassing, storm-response, self-generated lead, and local relationship strategies appropriate for the Northeast Ohio market. Team and Subcontractor Leadership Recruit, train, coach, and evaluate roofing sales, production, administrative, and service employees. Recruit and retain qualified roofing subcontractors and installation crews. Establish clear standards for workmanship, schedule adherence, jobsite cleanliness, customer communication, safety, and documentation. Lead weekly operating meetings using scorecards, priorities, and structured issue-solving. Hold employees and subcontractors accountable for company expectations and measurable performance goals. Develop department leaders and establish clear ownership across sales, production, service, and administration. Build a culture of urgency, accountability, teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement. Safety, Quality, and Compliance Ensure roofing projects comply with applicable building codes, permit requirements, manufacturer installation instructions, and industry best practices. Enforce OSHA roofing safety requirements, including fall protection, ladder safety, personal protective equipment, and jobsite controls. Conduct or require jobsite safety observations and corrective action when deficiencies are identified. Ensure crews protect customer property, landscaping, siding, windows, driveways, and surrounding structures. Monitor workmanship quality and ensure required inspections and documentation are completed. Address recurring quality issues through retraining, process changes, subcontractor corrective action, or replacement. Promote a workplace culture centered on safety and injury prevention. Customer Experience and Reputation Ensure customers receive timely communication from contract signing through final payment and warranty closeout. Resolve escalated customer complaints, workmanship concerns, scheduling disputes, insurance issues, and payment disagreements. Ensure commitments made by sales and production teams are documented and fulfilled. Monitor online reviews, referrals, complaints, and customer-satisfaction trends. Protect and strengthen the Caspersen Roofing reputation throughout Stow and the surrounding Northeast Ohio market. Maintain high standards of professionalism at jobsites, in customer homes, and throughout the community. Systems and Performance Reporting Use AccuLynx or similar roofing software to manage leads, estimates, contracts, scheduling, production, job costing, customer communication, and reporting. Ensure roofing jobs are maintained in the correct status throughout the project lifecycle. Review installation reports, backlog reports, approved-jobs reports, variance reports, sales KPI reports, and accounts-receivable reports. Maintain accurate information regarding job value, production dates, material orders, crew assignments, completion milestones, and invoicing. Submit weekly reports and operational updates on time. Use scorecard data to identify off-track results and implement corrective action. Required Qualifications At least five years of roofing-industry experience in operations, production, sales, branch management, or general management. At least three years of leadership experience managing employees, subcontractors, or a roofing business unit. Demonstrated understanding of the full roofing project lifecycle, from lead intake and estimating through installation, invoicing, collections, and warranty service. Experience managing roofing production schedules, crews, subcontractors, materials, and customer expectations. Strong knowledge of roofing job costing, gross-margin management, labor controls, and material-cost management. Experience leading roofing sales teams and monitoring sales-performance metrics. Working knowledge of OSHA roofing safety requirements and fall-protection practices. Familiarity with roofing permits, inspections, manufacturer requirements, and local building codes. Experience resolving roofing-related customer complaints and workmanship issues. Proficiency with CRM, estimating, scheduling, and production-management software. Strong financial, analytical, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Valid driver's license and the ability to travel throughout the Stow and Northeast Ohio market. Preferred Qualifications Experience as a General Manager, Branch Manager, Production Manager, Director of Operations, or Sales Manager for a roofing contractor. Experience managing both retail and insurance-restoration roofing. AccuLynx experience. Experience with asphalt shingle and specialty roofing systems. Manufacturer certifications or roofing-industry training. Experience managing a roofing business with full profit-and-loss responsibility.
