The Opportunity:

We are seeking a VP, Commercial Loan Officer to join the DFCU Financial team in the Grand Rapids, MI area.

What You'll Do:
  • Business Development & Relationship Management Proactively identify and develop new business banking relationships with a focus on deposit and lending growth.
  • Grow and manage a portfolio of commercial clients, delivering tailored financial guidance and creative lending solutions that meet their evolving needs.
  • Connect clients with a full suite of business banking services including lending, deposits, Treasury Management, and SBA programs to help their businesses thrive.
  • Build strong partnerships with business owners, centers of influence, and professional networks to generate referrals and drive meaningful growth.

Represent DFCU in the community and make a real and lasting impact by helping local businesses succeed. Portfolio Management & Credit Expertise Analyze and underwrite credit requests in accordance with DFCU's policies and risk appetite, structuring thoughtful and strategic solutions.

Monitor loan covenants, past due accounts, and renewal timelines to ensure portfolio health and risk mitigation.

Collaborate closely with internal partners-including Business Banking Assistants and Loan Documentation teams-to streamline processing and deliver an exceptional client experience. Team Collaboration & Strategic Engagement Work cross-functionally with Retail, Treasury, and Lending teams to deliver value through joint calling efforts and holistic financial solutions.

Prepare detailed call plans and post-call reviews that translate client goals into actionable next steps. Stay informed on market trends, industry shifts, and client opportunities to remain a trusted advisor and thought partner. Operational Excellence Ensure compliance with internal policies, credit standards, and regulatory requirements.

Complete all required professional development and compliance training to support continuous growth.

What You'll Need:

Bachelor's degree in business, finance or related field.

Seven years lending or sales experience in the financial services industry.

Three - five years commercial lending and credit underwriting experience.

Demonstrated high performance in sales goal attainment.

Demonstrated community involvement.

High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Excellent interpersonal skills, including effective verbal and written communication.
