Full-Time | HybridJob SummaryThe Mortgage Banking Officer is responsible for originating residential first mortgage and home equity loans while actively engaging in business development activities. This role provides exceptional mortgage origination services in accordance with company lending policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities include counseling borrowers, collecting financial information, evaluating loan applications, and submitting complete files for underwriting.

The position also builds and maintains strong relationships with retail banking partners by providing training, guidance, and ongoing support to increase referral opportunities and improve branch performance.

Essential ResponsibilitiesTravel to assigned branch and call center locations to originate residential mortgage loans and provide quality customer service.

Interview applicants to recommend appropriate loan products based on financial needs.

Analyze financial information, complete loan applications, and explain the loan process, timelines, disclosures, and requirements.

Coordinate with processing and underwriting teams to ensure efficient loan processing.

Provide borrowers with regular updates regarding loan status and respond to questions throughout the process.

Participate in sales meetings, community events, sponsorships, and educational seminars such as first-time homebuyer workshops.

Work closely with processors and closers to collect required documentation and facilitate successful loan closings.

Serve as the primary contact for refinance transactions and assist with complex mortgage scenarios when appropriate.

Identify opportunities to improve departmental processes, customer service, and operational efficiency.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required ExperienceTwo or more years of experience in mortgage lending, consumer lending, or commercial banking preferred.

Knowledge of conventional mortgage products, home equity financing, and mortgage lending regulations preferred.

Ability to obtain and maintain required Mortgage Loan Originator licensing and annual continuing education.

Valid driver's license required.

Spanish/English bilingual proficiency required.

EducationAssociate's degree in a business-related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Must meet all requirements to serve as a registered Mortgage Loan Originator under applicable federal regulations.

Ongoing professional education through conferences, workshops, and industry associations is encouraged to remain current with regulatory and market changes.
