Known for its innovation, safety culture, and complex project execution, Austin Commercial seeks an experienced executive to lead a business unit in the DFW region, managing operations, client relationships, and strategic growth across key sectors. Role Summary The Vice President, Business Unit, will oversee the full scope of operations across Healthcare, Higher Education, and Aviation markets. This executive role combines strategic leadership, business development, operational oversight, and team mentorship to ensure successful delivery of large-scale, high-profile projects while expanding the unit's footprint in all major markets. Key Responsibilities Develop and execute the business unit strategy to grow market share and profitability across Healthcare, Higher Education, and Aviation. Lead business development initiatives and cultivate strong client relationships with hospitals, universities, airports, and other key stakeholders. Oversee project execution, ensuring projects meet schedule, budget, safety, quality, and client satisfaction goals . Manage the business unit P&L, monitor performance metrics, and make data-driven decisions to achieve financial objectives. Mentor and lead project executives, operations managers, estimators, and support teams to build a high-performing business unit. Collaborate with corporate leadership on resource allocation, risk management, contract strategy, and long-term planning . Represent the company in industry conferences, client meetings, and community engagements. Stay current with industry trends, market opportunities, and regulatory requirements across the three sectors. Drive innovation and adoption of construction best practices, including design-build, modular construction, BIM, and sustainability initiatives. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred. Minimum 15-20 years of progressive experience in construction management with leadership in Healthcare, Higher Education, and/or Aviation projects. Demonstrated ability to lead large, complex projects and manage multi-disciplinary teams. Proven track record in business development, client management, and achieving financial performance targets. Strong operational and strategic leadership, with P&L ownership experience. Excellent communication, negotiation, and decision-making skills. Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements in healthcare, higher education, and aviation sectors. Willingness to travel across the DFW region and national projects as needed.
