Job Description

Overview Toolcraft is seeking a dependable, hands-on Store Manager to lead our retail operations and support our employees and customers. This position is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the store, including staff management, customer service, inventory, merchandising, sales, and store organization. The right candidate will have retail leadership experience, strong customer service skills, and general knowledge of construction tools, equipment rentals, parts, and small-engine equipment. Because Toolcraft covers such a wide range of products and services, we do not expect one person to know everything. A willingness to learn, ask questions, and build product knowledge is essential. Our store has recently been remodeled, and the new manager will play an important role in organizing the space, creating effective product displays, and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment for customers and employees. Duties Lead and manage the daily operation of the store Hire, interview, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate employees Provide clear expectations, regular feedback, and support to team members Address employee performance concerns fairly, directly, and consistently Ensure the store has appropriate staffing and coverage, including occasional Saturdays Build a positive, team-oriented work environment Lead by example and assist the team wherever needed Provide knowledgeable, friendly, and professional customer service Help customers identify the right tools, equipment, parts, or rental products for their needs Respond to customer questions and resolve concerns professionally Oversee inventory, stock replenishment, pricing, and product availability Work with the parts managers, who assist with product ordering Maintain organized and effective merchandising and product displays Monitor sales performance and identify opportunities to increase sales Use the point-of-sale system and inventory management software Perform limited daily cash handling and register reconciliation Conduct team meetings and communicate store goals, expectations, and updates Create and manage social media content to advertise products, rentals, promotions, and store updates Ensure employees follow company policies and safety procedures Maintain accurate records and communicate clearly in person, by email, and in writing Skills Previous retail leadership or supervisory experience preferred General knowledge of construction tools, equipment rentals, parts, and small-engine equipment Willingness to continue learning about Toolcraft's products and services Strong customer service and problem-solving skills Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy retail environment Comfortable using computers, POS systems, inventory software, email, and social media Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills Experience with hiring, training, scheduling, and employee development Ability to coach employees and handle difficult conversations calmly Dependable, patient, and able to follow through on responsibilities Comfortable receiving feedback and making necessary improvements Willing to take responsibility for store operations and the performance of the team Valid driver's license Ability to lift at least 50 pounds CDL is a plus, but not required Schedule The regular schedule is generally Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional Saturday coverage is required to maintain appropriate staffing and cover employee vacations. The manager's weekday schedule or day off may vary when Saturday coverage is needed.
