Job Responsibilities:
Lead staff and management to perform to meet and exceed the expectations of our guests through genuine and attentive service. This requires a hands-on approach and the ability to communicate in a respectful and motivational manner with all levels of staff. Set the example of staff expectations by interacting directly with guests and walking the property with staff and management to effectively communicate your vision of an excellent property. Use a high level of energy to set a fast pace that delivers a quick response to our guests. Understanding the need to lead the staff to work as a team amongst each other is vital for success as a GM with Odyssey Hotels. Conduct weekly management meetings as well as appropriate departmental and staff-wide meetings. Communicate with excellence in writing and speaking. Capable of understanding Odyssey Hotel's policies and procedures and holding staff and management accountable to meeting these policies. Capable of understanding Residence Inn / Marriott Hotels' standard operating procedures and motivating staff to adhere to them. Thorough understanding of Microsoft Excel, as it will be necessary to compile a number of various reports, as well as develop your own for use of analyzing business needs and conditions. Ability to understand what is needed to make revenue and profit goals. Must know how to read budgets, account for invoices, and meet expense controls. Forecasting and Labor Control are also vital in the financial management of the hotel. A heavy focus on integrity, confidentiality, and an empathetic approach with staff and guests will be required, with the balance of meeting goals and holding staff accountable to meeting and exceeding standards. Assurance that safety standards, compliance, security, and local applicable laws are adhered to and this is a focus for both guests and staff Ability to sell, including developing and utilizing sales and marketing plans and developing and maintaining relationships with guests and business decision makers
Job Requirements:
Assurance that safety standards, compliance, security, and local applicable laws are adhered to and this is a focus for both guests and staff. Must have hotel management experience. Residence Inn / Marriott experience is a plus. Experience with reading, analyzing, and interpreting financial reports such as P&L, Payroll, Inventories, Budgets, etc. Capable of communicating with wide variety of people, including ownership and upper management, Marriott corporate personnel, as well as hourly staff. Must be open-minded to a variety of guests and their individual needs. Must be able to determine how to meet these needs with the resources available, while meeting cost and labor goals. A thorough understanding of Front Office operations, Housekeeping Operations, and Maintenance Operations. Includes developing and maintaining cost control and purchase strategies, as well as scheduling for the needs of our guests while meeting labor goals. Must have a proven background for sales success and a strong desire to help the sales department build revenue, including developing and utilizing sales and marketing plans and developing and maintaining relationships with guests and business decision makers. Flexible and open-minded to change. Desire and ability to participate in the community, such as Chamber of Commerce events and networking with the CVB, and others. Typical bending, lifting, and moving required for a hotel management job.
