A. The Executive Director provides leadership, management and oversight to the daily operations of Family Connections by: Working with the Board, assuring that the organization has and uses a long-range strategy that achieves its mission. Providing leadership in achieving organizational mission by developing and implementing program, organizational and financial plans with the Board of Directors and the management team. Developing a positive, productive organizational culture and climate, conducive to the achievement of Family Connections' mission, values, and strategic goals by providing oversight and coordination to Continuous Quality Improvement activities. Ensuring that the organization remains in compliance with all applicable laws and licensing standards. Overseeing contract management, reviewing the contract with the Board, and assuring the agency is meeting the terms of the contract. Ensuring the Board is kept fully informed of all important factors affecting the condition of the organization. Publicizing the activities of the organization, its programs and goals. Fostering the establishment of sound working relationships and cooperative arrangements among member organizations. Representing the programs and point of view as spokesperson of the organization to members, agencies, organizations, and the general public. Attending all board meetings or is represented by a designee; assisting in board meeting planning through developing and distributing board meeting materials. Providing written comprehensive reports to the Board on progress toward organizational objectives, financial status and planning, risk management, and other issues related to achievement of the agency mission. In conjunction with the fiscal director, developing and presenting the annual budget to the Board for approval. Administering all human resource activities of the organization and ensuring that policies and practices are in compliance with all applicable laws and standards. Prudently managing financial resources of the organization in accordance with accepted accounting procedures and seeing that the organization operates within the budget guidelines. Staying abreast of knowledge and trends in the child welfare field by continued professional development. Completing and submitting all licensing application material and material for reviews. Actively advocating, in partnership with, and on behalf of persons, groups, and families served, for a full array of community services in order to promote the well-being of persons and families served by Family Connections. B. The Executive Director develops a therapeutic relationship with staff that will enhance teamwork and the quality of the work environment by: Leading administrative, management, and other meetings involved in policy, short- and long-term planning, and other management issues. Supporting and encouraging teamwork by offering feedback and effective critique of team members. Assisting in team building through loyalty and support of the team process. Enhancing teamwork and the quality of services through understanding, clarifying, and demonstrating the role of the executive director, the function and roles of the other agency programs and services, and how they can best interrelate. Being available to staff in order to discuss appropriate personnel and professional concerns. C. The Executive Director assists in the implementation of the organization's mission, goals, and objectives by: Accurately documenting necessary reports required by the organization, licensing and accreditation standards, state and federal law. Maintaining furniture, equipment and supplies in a cost-effective and cost-saving manner. Exercising confidentiality in agency affairs, employee privacy, and privacy of persons served according to agency guidelines, licensing, and other regulations. Knowing state licensing and accreditation requirements as they pertain to the overall functions of the organization. Exhibiting sensitivity to and being aware of the various cultural and socio-economic characteristics of the community and those served, and responding in an appropriate manner. Utilizing the organization's mission as the guiding force in all decision making and demonstrating the agency's core and customer values in every interaction with external and internal customers. Exhibiting a professional attitude and commitment to the agency and its customers by maintaining expected level of attendance and reporting to work and meetings on time. D. Executive Director enhances personal and professional potential by: Actively participating in performance reviews by setting and actively working on goals and objectives for professional improvement. Exhibiting personal and professional ethics, attitudes and value systems which enhance service delivery. Keeping self in good emotional condition by possessing internal strengths to meet the emotional demands of the job. Being responsible for acquiring all training mandated for the position and required by the agency through participation in agency-sponsored and agency-approved training events and workshops Staying abreast of knowledge and trends in the child welfare field by continued professional development, maintaining licenses and credentials necessary to perform the job.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises employees who will generally be in administrative positions. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. E. Providing direct and indirect supervision of employees by: Establishing a climate of leadership, confidence, trust and knowledge. Providing orientation and ongoing staff training. Planning, assigning and directing work. Appraising employees' performance objectively and timely. Rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems. Conditions of Employment- Workweek is primarily weekdays, including evening and weekend work, with more extended hours as required.
- Some travel required, including overnights.
- Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
- Governing body approval for employment activities outside the organization and for performance of non-administrative, service-related duties within the organization.
- Post job-offer, pre-hire physician's statement of ability to perform the functions of the job and annual TB screen.
- Ability to pass child abuse and neglect and criminal history background checks.
- Submit to a post-offer, pre-hire drug test.
