Department Organizational Summary:
The Department of Molecular Bioscience (MBS) offices are located in the ISA and BSF buildings at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida. The department is home to approximately 35 full-time faculty members, over 70 graduate students and offers courses to approximately 1200 undergraduate biology students. The mission of the Department of Molecular Biosciences at the University of South Florida is to prepare students for professional careers in the areas of Cell Biology, Microbiology, and Molecular Biology. We pursue excellence in the following programmatic research areas through strategic hires, grant acquisitions and scholarly publications
Bacterial Pathogenesis, Genome Integrity and Molecular Biophysics & Systems Bio Part-time:

Pay:
$17/hr This is a temporary position that is funded by non-recurring funds and renewal is conditional upon the continuation of those funds
Minimum Qualifications:
This position requires a high school diploma and one year of paraprofessional library experience or other relevant experience. Appropriate college coursework may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
Degree Equivalency Clause:
Four years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree.

- (d) Seven years of direct experience for a professional degree; or
- (e) Nine years of direct experience for a doctoral degree
- Related work experience may not substitute for any required licensure, certification, or registration required for the position of employment as established by the public employer and indicated in the advertised description of the position of employment.
- Minimum Qualifications that require a high school diploma are exempt from SB 1310.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor's degree or equivalent as well as prior experience working with herbarium specimens and archival collections and Microsoft Office suite. This short-term position is intended to assist with an ongoing grant-funded project focused on digitizing the entire USF Herbarium collection. The student summer digitization assistant is expected to digitize herbarium specimens as well as color slides of Florida plants from the herbarium's collections. They are also expected to assist with other tasks related to the curation of the USF Herbarium collection at the discretion of the Associate Curator.
