The Office of Sponsored Programs supports the UNL community in securing and managing external funding for research, creative, and scholarly activities. The Post-Award Team oversees the final phases of the grant lifecycle, ensuring effective financial and administrative management, regulatory compliance, and responsible stewardship of funds enabling researchers to focus on their research. As a Post Award Specialist I, you will: Support research by providing post-award grant management and financial guidance Partner with principal investigators and campus teams to manage funding and ensure compliance from award through closeout Monitor grant accounts and advise on budgeting, spending, and reporting requirements Prepare financial reports, invoices, and other grant-related documentation Manage subrecipient agreements and oversee subcontractor activity Support audits, site visits, and compliance reviews Collaborate with campus partners and external agencies to support sponsored programs In the UNL system, this position is categorized as a Project Specialist I.

//go.unl.edu/nondiscrimination Minimum Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, or related field plus 1 year of relevant experience; additional years of relevant experience or completed relevant education may substitute on a year-for-year basis. 2026 May graduates will be considered. Proficiency in word processing, database management, spreadsheets, and presentation software (e.g., MS Office Suite). Demonstrated experience in accountancy. Preferred Qualifications The following qualifications are preferred but not required: Grant management experience in higher education or state setting. Knowledge of Uniform Guidance, FAR clauses, and the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR). Ideal Candidate Statement The ideal candidate is detail-oriented and consistently accurate in transactional work, including account setup and data manipulation. They bring strong organizational and communication skills, and are able to manage and prioritize tasks effectively throughout a project timeline.
