Founded on the belief that diaspora communities can play a powerful role in creating positive change, DNPN works to mobilize resources, volunteers, professional expertise, and strategic partnerships to support underserved communities both locally and abroad, with a particular focus on Cape Verde and Cape Verdean communities throughout the United States.

Job Overview DNPN is seeking a strategic, entrepreneurial, and mission-driven Director of Development & Grants to lead the organization's fundraising, grant development, donor engagement, and revenue growth efforts. Reporting directly to the President, this individual will play a critical leadership role in identifying funding opportunities, cultivating donor relationships, preparing grant proposals, managing fundraising campaigns, and building sustainable revenue streams that support the organization's mission and long-term growth. The ideal candidate combines exceptional writing skills, relationship-building abilities, and strategic thinking with a passion for community impact. Key Responsibilities Grant Research & Development Identify and evaluate grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, government agencies, and nonprofit funding partners. Develop and maintain a comprehensive grants calendar. Prepare, write, and submit compelling grant proposals and applications. Coordinate supporting documentation and organizational materials required for submissions. Track grant deadlines, reporting requirements, and compliance obligations. Manage post-award reporting and stewardship activities. Fundraising & Revenue Development Design and implement annual fundraising strategies and campaigns. Develop individual donor cultivation and stewardship programs. Coordinate online fundraising campaigns and donation initiatives. Identify opportunities for recurring donor programs and major gifts. Assist in planning fundraising events and special campaigns. Corporate & Foundation Relations Research and cultivate relationships with corporations, foundations, and philanthropic organizations. Develop sponsorship opportunities and partnership proposals. Prepare presentations and funding requests for prospective partners. Manage donor communications and stewardship activities. Strategic Development Assist executive leadership in developing long-term funding strategies. Create fundraising goals, metrics, and performance reports. Build systems for donor management and relationship tracking. Identify opportunities for organizational growth and expansion. Community & Stakeholder Engagement Represent DNPN at networking events, conferences, and community meetings. Build relationships with community leaders, donors, nonprofit partners, and stakeholders. Support public awareness and engagement initiatives. Qualifications Required Strong grant writing and proposal development experience. Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills. Experience in fundraising, donor relations, business development, or nonprofit development. Strong research and analytical abilities. Excellent project management and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously. Preferred Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience. Experience working within nonprofit organizations. Experience securing foundation, corporate, or government funding. Familiarity with donor management systems and fundraising platforms. Knowledge of grant compliance and reporting requirements.
