Funded through the Community Foundation of South Jersey (CFSJ) Encore Fellows Initiative About the Encore Fellows Initiative The Community Foundation of South Jersey (CFSJ) Encore Fellows Initiative connects experienced older adults with local nonprofits to lead high-impact, capacity-building projects. Funded through a grant focused on promoting public service among older adults, this initiative highlights the valuable skills, experience, and perspectives older adults bring to the community. Encore Fellows serve as independent contractors, funded with a $2,000 monthly stipend from the CFSJ, for the duration of the project. Project Overview The South Jersey Cultural Alliance seeks an Encore Fellow to strengthen organizational capacity, expand community engagement, and support strategic initiatives that promote arts, culture, heritage, and creative placemaking throughout South Jersey. The Fellow will work closely with organizational leadership to enhance partnerships, improve operational systems, identify funding opportunities, and help advance programs that increase access to cultural experiences across the region. Position Summary The Encore Fellow will serve as a strategic advisor and project leader, helping the South Jersey Cultural Alliance implement priority initiatives that support long-term sustainability and community impact. This role combines relationship-building, project management, research, and organizational development to help the Alliance broaden its reach and effectiveness. Key Responsibilities Assess current organizational programs, partnerships, and operational needs. Develop and implement strategies to strengthen community and stakeholder engagement. Identify and cultivate partnerships with arts organizations, cultural institutions, municipalities, educational organizations, and community groups. Research and support grant opportunities, sponsorships, and other funding prospects. Assist with strategic planning and organizational capacity-building efforts. Develop systems, tools, and processes that improve organizational effectiveness. Support communications and outreach efforts to increase visibility and public awareness. Prepare reports, recommendations, and project updates for organizational leadership. Document best practices and create resources that support sustainability beyond the fellowship period. Project Goals & Outcomes Increase organizational capacity through improved systems and processes. Strengthen relationships with regional arts and cultural stakeholders. Expand awareness of the Alliance's mission and programs throughout South Jersey. Identify new funding and partnership opportunities that support long-term sustainability. Produce actionable recommendations and tools that can be implemented after the fellowship concludes. Support the development of a strategic roadmap for future growth and impact. Qualifications Must be at least 55 years old. Demonstrated professional experience in nonprofit management, community development, arts administration, public service, strategic planning, fundraising, communications, project management, or a related field. Strong organizational and project management skills. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Experience building partnerships and collaborating with diverse stakeholders. Ability to work independently while maintaining regular communication with staff and partners. Proficiency with standard office and virtual collaboration tools. Knowledge of South Jersey communities and cultural organizations is preferred. Reporting Structure The Encore Fellow will report to the Senior Fellow of the Encore Fellows Initiative and collaborate with the Executive Director and staff of the Host Organization. Impact The Encore Fellow will play a key role in strengthening the South Jersey Cultural Alliance's ability to serve communities throughout the region. Through strategic guidance, partnership development, and capacity-building support, the Fellow's work will help expand access to arts and cultural opportunities, strengthen community connections, and ensure the long-term sustainability of cultural initiatives across South Jersey.
