South Carolina (statewide travel; primary base in SCACAP service area) Position Summary The NHE Manager leads strategy, implementation, and monitoring of SCACAP's Comprehensive Nutrition & Healthy Eating Grant . The role ensures that service deliverables are met on time and within scope; supervises one-time grant staff (Community Health Workers and Nutrition Coaches); and builds sustainable practices that expand access to healthy foods, enhance nutrition education, foster family and community engagement, and embed wellness across Head Start programming serving 436 children and families in 10 counties . Key Responsibilities Program Leadership & Delivery Plan, launch, and manage grant work plans (s), timelines, and milestones; ensure all deliverables are met with quality and on schedule. Coordinate site rollouts (classrooms/centers), aligning with Head Start Program Performance Standards (HSPPS) in Health, Nutrition, Family & Community Engagement, and Education. Supervision & Workforce Development Directly supervise grant-funded Community Health Workers (CHWs) and Nutrition Coaches (hiring, onboarding, schedules, coaching, performance feedback). Provide ongoing training, model culturally responsive practices, and ensure fidelity to nutrition curricula and family engagement approaches. Family & Community Engagement Oversee family-facing workshops, cooking demos, grocery/market tours, and behavior-change supports (goal setting, text nudges, referrals). Build and maintain partnerships with food banks, local growers/CSAs, WIC/SNAP resources, health departments, and clinical/community partners to increase healthy food access. Curriculum, Education & Wellness Integration Select/implement evidence-informed nutrition education and wellness activities appropriate for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and families. Coordinate with education staff to integrate nutrition into daily routines, lesson plans, and school readiness goals. Access to Healthy Foods Coordinate produce boxes/pantry supports, farm-to-ECE initiatives, gardens, and procurement of nutritious snacks aligned to CACFP and HSPPS. Troubleshoot access barriers (transportation, affordability, storage) and connect families to benefits (e.g., SNAP, WIC). Data, Quality, & Compliance Build a simple monitoring dashboard; track participation, outputs, outcomes (e.g., attendance, servings of fruits/vegetables, family goal completion). Ensure documentation accuracy for grant reporting , audits, and Head Start compliance; maintain confidentiality and data privacy. Conduct routine site visits; issue findings and corrective actions with clear timelines; follow up to closure. Budget & Administration Steward the grant budget; monitor spend vs. plan; manage purchasing of equipment, supplies, and incentives per policy. Prepare monthly/quarterly reports for leadership and funders (successes, risks, mitigation, sustainability recommendations). Risk Management & Safety Implement hazard mapping for food handling, storage, and program activities; ensure safe environments and incident reporting. Uphold SCACAP policies (code of conduct, confidentiality) and all applicable federal/state/local regulations. Sustainability & Equity Identify low-cost, sustainable practices; propose policy/procedure updates and community partnerships that can persist post-grant. Ensure services are culturally and linguistically responsive and address food insecurity with dignity. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Public Health, Health Promotion, Early Childhood, Human Services, or related field (Master's preferred). 3+ years managing health/nutrition, public health, or community-based programs (Head Start/EHS experience strongly preferred). 1+ year supervising field staff or coaches (can be combined with above). Working knowledge of HSPPS (Health, Nutrition, Family & Community Engagement) and state licensing; familiarity with CACFP and community food systems. Strong skills in project management, training/facilitation, partnership development, data tracking/reporting, and continuous quality improvement. Proficiency with MS Office/Google Workspace; comfort with simple data dashboards and case-management or intake tools. Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel across 17 counties .

Working Conditions Office, classroom, kitchen/garden, and community settings; frequent local travel; occasional evening/weekend family events. Able to lift up to 25 lbs. occasionally; prolonged standing/walking during events or site visits. Position Type & Funding Grant-funded, non-recurring position tied to the SCACAP Comprehensive Nutrition & Healthy Eating Grant . Continuation beyond the grant term is contingent upon funding and organizational need. Success Measures (examples) 100% completion of grant deliverables and reports, on time and within budget. ≥95% of planned family education sessions delivered; satisfaction ≥90%. Increase in healthy food access touchpoints (e.g., produce distributions, garden outputs). Documented improvements in family-selected goals (e.g., home meal frequency, fruit/vegetable intake). Zero repeat findings for the same compliance issue; timely closure of corrective actions.
