Job Title:
Shipping and Receiving Worker Job Description This role focuses on shipping, receiving, and material handling within a busy warehouse and distribution environment. You will ensure that incoming and outgoing inventory is processed accurately, safely, and efficiently, supporting production, assembly, and overall warehouse operations. The position requires hands-on work with inventory control, cycle counting, and the use of shipping equipment and systems. Responsibilities Receive, unload, and store incoming inventory items in accordance with established company protocols and procedures. Perform quality control checks on incoming and outgoing shipments to verify product accuracy, condition, and integrity. Operate shipping equipment and systems to safely transport, process, and verify materials within the warehouse. Locate, pick, and gather products for distribution to production workers, assembly lines, or shipping areas. Assist with inventory management activities, including tracking, updating, and reconciling inventory records. Conduct inventory and cycle counts to maintain accurate stock levels and support inventory control processes. Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area while following all safety standards and regulations. Handle materials safely and efficiently, including loading, unloading, and moving items throughout the facility. Communicate clearly and professionally with team members and supervisors to coordinate workflow and meet production and shipping goals. Follow established warehouse procedures, documentation requirements, and shipping/receiving guidelines. Report any discrepancies, damages, or safety concerns promptly to the appropriate personnel. Essential Skills Minimum of 1 year of shipping and receiving experience; 2 or more years is strongly preferred. Hands-on experience with inventory control and cycle counting in a warehouse environment. Material handling experience, including moving, loading, and unloading products safely. Familiarity with warehouse operations and inventory management processes. Ability to operate shipping equipment and shipping systems used for processing and verifying materials. Understanding of safety standards and protocols in a warehouse or manufacturing environment. Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling inventory and documentation. Ability to perform order pulling and support production needs. High school diploma or GED. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working in a manufacturing company, warehouse building, or distribution center. Forklift experience or the ability to learn and operate material handling equipment safely. Experience with order pulling and supporting production and assembly lines. Strong communication skills to coordinate tasks with team members and other departments. Ability to work various shifts and adapt to rotating weekend schedules as needed. Work Environment The role is based in a manufacturing warehouse and distribution center setting, with work performed in a large facility environment. Candidates report to one of two nearby sites in the same area. Work is hands-on and primarily on the warehouse floor, involving regular movement, material handling, and interaction with production and shipping areas. Multiple shifts are available, including 3:00 PM-11:00 PM Monday-Friday, and 11:00 PM-7:00 AM Sunday-Thursday. There may be a mandatory six-day schedule at times, with rotating weekend assignments (for example, working Saturday one weekend and Sunday the next). The environment follows established safety standards and protocols, and employees are expected to maintain a clean, organized workspace appropriate for a manufacturing and warehouse setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pearl River, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
