Position Summary:
This position is primarily responsible for maintaining inventory accuracy through detailed cycle counting, reconciliation, and inventory analysis activities. The role supports the Supply Chain Manager in ensuring system integrity, accurate work-in-progress tracking, and compliance with internal inventory control procedures. The Inventory Clerk is responsible for supporting inventory accuracy and material availability within a manufacturing environment producing industrial snowplows and related equipment. This role performs daily inventory transactions, cycle counts, location control, and material movement verification to ensure parts are available, properly staged, and accurately reflected in JD Edwards (JDE) 9.2 . The Inventory Clerk works closely with Production, Materials, Purchasing, and Shipping/Receiving to prevent line disruptions, reduce material shortages, and improve inventory integrity. Essential Functions of the
Job:
Inventory Control & Cycle Counting Perform detailed and precise cycle counts of warehouse and production locations in accordance with established guidelines. Enter, review, validate, and post cycle count results in inventory systems; ensure recounts are performed when required. Assist in monitoring overall inventory accuracy to support company variance goals. Investigate negative inventory balances and discrepancies; determine root causes and recommend corrective actions. Verify accuracy of W.I.P. (Work in Progress) through physical counts and analysis of work order transactions. Assist with internal and external audit processes related to cycle counting and inventory reconciliation. Assist in resolving receiving, transfer, and work order transaction issues impacting inventory accuracy. Monitor inventory locations for shrinkage, write-offs, and adjustment trends, report findings with corrective recommendations. Assist with annual physical inventories. Maintain accurate part quantities, locations, and statuses within JDE 9.2 Able to safely operate material handling equipment, including forklift trucks, as required. ERP Transactions & Data Integrity Execute inventory transactions in JDE 9.2 , including issues, receipts, transfers, adjustments, and location move Verify inventory transactions initiated by production and material handling personnel for accuracy and completeness Maintain item location discipline to ensure system data matches physical inventory Production & Material Flow Support Ensure production parts are stocked, labeled, and located according to ERP‑defined locations Monitor material shortages or mislocated parts and proactively escalate risks to production schedules Support kitting, staging, and line‑side material readiness as required to prevent assembly delays Assist with material flow improvements and shop‑floor organization projects (5S, layout changes, re‑slotting) Housekeeping, Safety & Continuous Improvement Maintain orderly, clean, and clearly labeled inventory areas Follow all safety policies, material handling procedures, and housekeeping standards Identify opportunities to improve inventory accuracy, material flow, and part accessibility Support continuous improvement initiatives related to inventory and production efficiency Other Duties Provide backup support to Shipping/Receiving or Material Handling as needed Perform additional duties as assigned by Inventory Control or Materials leadership Enter OT/ST and resolve any back orders. Review transfers daily for completion. Assist in expediting service back orders. Assist in reprocessing and back flushing machine work orders. Support cross-functional issue resolution involving scheduling, order processing, and system updates. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's): Strong ability to perform detailed and precise cycle counts with high accuracy. Ability to analyze inventory data, identify discrepancies, and determine root causes. Working knowledge of inventory control principles in a manufacturing environment. Ability to manage computer-based inventory and ERP systems. Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Experience using an ERP system; JD Edwards (JDE) 9.2 preferred Ability to work cross-functionally with multiple departments. Ability to safely operate a forklift truck. Knowledge of company safety and quality systems to ensure compliance. Ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Education and Experience :
High School Diploma or GED required. 1-3 years prior experience in inventory control, cycle counting, or materials management preferred. Experience in a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred. ERP system experience a plus. Production scheduling experience helpful but not required.
Working Conditions:
Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 35 pounds alone and greater than 50 pounds with assistance. Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8+ hours) as required. Ability to wear appropriate PPE, including hearing/eye protection, gloves, and safety shoes. Must be able to work overtime as needed to complete job assignments. Ability to work in an environment that is not climate controlled in the manufacturing plant. Frequent walking, bending, stooping, reaching, and climbing as required by job tasks.
