Plating Operator - Day Shift (Monday-Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm)

Job Description This role operates and monitors a multi-tank, computerized plating line to meet engineering specifications and quality standards. You will handle chemicals and hazardous waste safely, perform inspections and testing on plated product, and maintain a clean, organized work area. The position is on a consistent day shift schedule and involves working closely with production, maintenance, and environmental teams to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality plating operations. Responsibilities

Run the plating process efficiently and effectively according to engineering specifications, using procedures, manuals, work instructions, routers, and written instructions.

Operate a multi-tank, computerized plating machine to process product to required standards.

Wear and use proper personal protective equipment (PPE) while performing tank maintenance, including tank additions, new tank makeup, tank discharge, and tank cleanouts.

Handle spill response safely and manage hazardous waste in accordance with environmental and safety procedures.

Safely operate an electric pallet jack and hoist to move product and chemical drums as needed.

Support the Environmental Policy and Environmental Management System in all daily activities.

Learn and follow correct procedures for preparation and approval of manifests and land disposal forms, as well as Department of Transportation (DOT) procedures for shipment of hazardous waste and spill response.

Load and unload product from the plating line and dryers, ensuring proper handling and flow of materials.

Inspect finished product according to control plans, including visual inspection and product gauging to verify quality requirements.

Ensure proper labeling and identification of chemicals, waste, hazards, and product at all times.

Communicate production status, issues, and needs with other operators, supervisors, and maintenance staff through meetings and email.

Participate actively in team meetings and collaborate effectively with team members.

Contribute to continuous improvement activities and initiatives to help the team meet safety, quality, and productivity goals.

Maintain equipment and keep the work area clean and organized by following 6S principles.

Operate an x-ray machine to measure plating thickness and verify conformance to specifications.

Perform daily preventive maintenance on plating and related equipment.

Conduct adhesion testing on plated product to ensure durability and performance.

Pull and label product samples as needed for process validations and quality checks.

Move chemical drums using appropriate equipment and safe handling techniques.

Segregate, document, and control non-conforming product according to established procedures.

Collect chemical samples for laboratory analysis, interpret results, and make chemical additions to tanks to keep parameters within operating specifications.

Organize and process work based on due dates, emails, and other communication to meet production schedules.

Essential Skills

High school diploma or GED.

At least 1 year of plating experience, preferably with zinc plating.

Ability to perform general labor and production tasks in a manufacturing environment.

Experience with machine operating and machine operation, including mechanical and electrically powered equipment.

Mechanically inclined with the ability to understand and work with mechanical systems.

Good verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with team members and documentation.

Basic math skills for measurements, calculations, and recording data.

Basic computer knowledge preferred for operating computerized equipment and using email.

Visual acuity for detailed work, including inspection and testing of plated product.

Ability to lift and maneuver 35 pounds on a skid multiple times per hour.

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds from floor to waist and from waist to floor.

Ability to stand throughout the entire shift in a production environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience with zinc plating processes is strongly preferred.

Comfort working with hand tools and basic mechanical tools.

Understanding of environmental and hazardous waste handling procedures is beneficial.

Familiarity with 6S or similar workplace organization and cleanliness principles.

Ability to learn and follow DOT procedures and documentation requirements for hazardous waste shipments.

Willingness to participate in continuous improvement activities and team-based problem solving.

Ability to operate or quickly learn to operate x-ray equipment for thickness measurement and other testing devices.

Work is performed on a consistent Monday-Friday day shift from 7:00am to 3:30pm, with additional 1st and 2nd shift opportunities available. Team members wear appropriate personal protective equipment for chemical handling, tank maintenance, and spill response. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Danboro, PA. Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
