Shipping and Receiving Worker Job Description This role works in the receiving area of a manufacturing facility and supports the full shipping and receiving process, from checking in daily shipments to organizing warehouse inventory. You will use an ERP-style system (PLEX) and general computer applications to accurately process incoming and outgoing materials, maintain stock records, and ensure parts are stored, labeled, and pulled correctly. The position requires strong attention to detail, solid organizational skills, and at least one year of shipping and receiving experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Check in all daily incoming shipments from vendors by comparing actual counts to packing slips and promptly identifying any discrepancies. Post all incoming packing slips into the computer system and follow company procedures for handling shortages or damaged parts. Process all incoming stock orders within 24 hours to ensure timely availability of materials. Put away all incoming stock in the appropriate bin locations as indicated in the computer system and ensure all parts placed into stock are properly labeled with barcode bin labels. Create new bin locations in the computer system for any new parts posted into stock. Dispose of any unneeded packing materials after each shipment is checked in to maintain a clean and safe work area. Pull parts for all orders, ensuring that part numbers and quantities pulled match order demand, and initial all pick slips to confirm accuracy. Keep the parts warehouse clean, organized, and compliant with all corporate safety guidelines and policies. Process and maintain all returns by accurately pulling returned parts from stock and verifying that parts are in new, resaleable condition. Complete all required return paperwork, including documenting tracking numbers and freight costs. File freight claims for any shortages or damaged parts received within 24 hours of receipt. Perform order pulling, packing, and preparation of shipments, including domestic and international shipping as needed. Coordinate shipments using carriers such as FedEx and support general logistics activities. Conduct cycle counts and assist with ongoing inventory control to ensure accurate stock levels in the warehouse. Provide courteous and professional customer service to internal and external stakeholders related to shipping, receiving, and inventory inquiries. Operate material handling equipment as needed to move, load, or unload materials safely. Drive a company vehicle, when required, to pick up or deliver parts, following all applicable safety and driving guidelines. Essential Skills Minimum of 1 year shipping and receiving (S&R) experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, or similar environment. High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior shipping and receiving experience with strong familiarity in handling incoming and outgoing shipments. Proficiency with computer systems and ERP-style software; experience using PLEX or similar ERP systems. Experience in inventory control, including stocking, bin management, and maintaining accurate inventory records. Ability to perform order pulling and packing with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple shipments, stock orders, and inventory tasks efficiently. Experience with logistics and shipping processes, including working with carriers such as FedEx. Knowledge of cycle counting practices and warehouse inventory procedures. Material handling experience, including safe handling and movement of parts and materials. Customer service skills to effectively support internal and external customers regarding shipping, receiving, and inventory matters. If required to drive on behalf of the company, possession of a current and valid driver's license with a driving record that meets the company's insurability guidelines. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience using PLEX or other ERP systems for inventory and shipping transactions. Background in international shipping processes and documentation. Familiarity with filing freight claims for shortages or damaged goods. Ability to maintain accurate records of tracking numbers and freight costs. Experience working in a manufacturing or non-climate-controlled warehouse environment. Demonstrated ability to follow corporate safety guidelines and maintain a clean, organized work area. Work Environment The role is based in a manufacturing facility with a non-climate-controlled warehouse environment, where temperatures may vary with the seasons. You will work primarily in the receiving area and parts warehouse, using computer systems, including an ERP platform similar to PLEX, to manage inventory and shipping data. The schedule typically consists of four 10-hour shifts from Monday through Thursday, with additional work possible on Fridays as needed. The workday includes a half-hour lunch and a mid-morning break. The environment involves regular material handling, warehouse inventory activities, and interaction with shipping carriers. Safety is a priority, and employees follow corporate safety guidelines; allowances for safety boots and safety glasses are available upon direct hire, supporting a practical, safety-oriented dress code appropriate for an industrial setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Roanoke, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.50/hr.
