This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced warehouse and manufacturing environment, enjoys staying organized, and takes pride in supporting production operations with accuracy and efficiency. If you have warehouse experience, forklift skills, and enjoy hands-on work with variety in your day, we'd love to hear from you.
Job Purpose:
The Materials Clerk is responsible for maintaining organized inventory and warehouse operations while supporting production needs and ensuring timely movement of materials throughout the company. Candidates with prior warehouse, inventory, or logistics experience are encouraged to apply. Forklift experience is required.
Responsibilities:
Issue parts from inventory to jobs and pull parts for job kits and subassemblies Put away received parts Audit job buckets Return unused parts to inventory and ensure proper transactions in ERP Conduct cycle counts in coordination with the materials group. Research and resolve inventory or job discrepancies. Scan packing slips, job folders, and related documentation to the server Assist with tracking and following up on late parts for jobs Support production technicians with material requests and inventory needs Ensure all inventory transactions are completed correctly within the ERP system Safely operate a forklift to move materials throughout the warehouse Assist with general warehouse upkeep, including trash and recycling removal Follow company safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED equivalent 1+ year of prior experience preferred Forklift certification required
Soft Skills:
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Time management and ability to prioritize tasks Dependability and accountability Effective written and verbal communication Team-oriented mindset Problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Hard Skills:
Basic computer and data entry skills Experience using ERP systems for inventory transactions Ability to operate or be trained on a forklift and pallet jack Ability to read a tape measure and operate basic shop tools (nail gun, chop saw) Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly Comfortable standing, walking, bending, stooping, climbing, and handling materials throughout the workday More About Us Cates Control Systems was founded over 40 years ago and is a systems integration company that partners with manufacturing firms to develop and implement automation solutions to increase production, improve quality and reduce costs.
