While this role is structured as a summer position, ongoing work is available through the fall and beyond for candidates interested in a longer-term arrangement. Position overview Our company conducts fixed asset inventory counts for school districts throughout the United States. Inventory specialists use hand-held barcode scanners to capture data on school equipment, which includes computers, machinery, kitchen and janitorial equipment, and similar items. The work is straightforward but requires consistent attention to detail and the physical stamina to remain on your feet for 9 to 10 hours per day. Most jobs run 5 to 6 days long, with some assignments lasting up to 2 weeks. Daily hours are typically 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM but may be a little longer or shorter on a day to day basis. Most assignments average about $250 per day in wages, plus an additional daily food stipend for jobs where you are traveling away from home. Full training is provided, and new hires work alongside experienced team members throughout each assignment. Travel and expenses Assignments take place across the 48 contiguous states. The company books and pays for all flights and hotel accommodations directly. No travel expenses need to be paid by the employee. A daily stipend of $70 is provided for food and incidentals in addition to hourly wages on all travel trips. Scheduling Work volume during the summer is substantial. Candidates who wish to work continuously can be placed on consecutive assignments, though you have the option to pick and choose which jobs you would like to work on. Following the summer season, we anticipate sufficient work to keep interested team members engaged approximately three weeks out of every four. Schedules are typically confirmed four weeks in advance. All assignments are offered on an opt-in basis. Team members are never required to accept a specific job. This structure suits a range of candidates, including college students seeking summer work, recent graduates exploring longer-term opportunities, and independent contractors or gig-workers who value flexible, well-compensated travel work. Qualifications Prior inventory experience is not required.
