Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented Lumber Order, and Inventory Specialist to join our supply chain team. In this pivotal role, you will manage lumber inventory levels, coordinate procurement activities, and optimize sourcing strategies to ensure seamless operations. Your proactive approach will help maintain inventory accuracy, negotiate with suppliers, and implement process improvements that drive efficiency. Responsibilities Oversee lumber inventory management using warehouse management systems and ensuring accurate stock levels and timely replenishments Coordinate procurement activities by sourcing lumber materials from reliable suppliers, negotiating pricing, terms, and contracts to maximize value Analyze inventory data through tools like Excel, and past purchases to identify trends, forecast demand, and support demand planning initiatives Conduct root cause analysis on inventory discrepancies or supply chain disruptions to develop effective corrective actions Manage logistics aspects including shipping & receiving, materials handling, and order fulfillment to ensure efficient stock movement Utilize data analytics for category management, pricing strategies, and process improvement initiatives that enhance overall supply chain performance Skills Extensive experience in warehouse distribution, warehouse management systems (WMS), and inventory control software Strong negotiation skills with a proven track record in procurement and supplier management Proficiency in Excel data analysis, and supply chain analytics tools such as Knowledge of logistics inventory management including shipping & receiving, demand planning, materials handling, and order fullfillment Ability to perform root cause analysis and implement process improvements within warehouse operations or procurement workflows Familiarity with ERP systems like AS400 or SAP for order processing and inventory tracking Technical proficiency in spreadsheets, financial analysis modeling, pricing strategies, and contract management Excellent communication skills for effective cross-functional collaboration across departments. Physical ability for heavy lifting when necessary; experience with forklift operation is a plus Strong math skills combined with analytical thinking to support sourcing decisions and inventory optimization This job will require you to be active in the plant. To make sure orders are being pulled accurately and timely. Must be able to work in an outside environment in all weather conditions. Must be able to assist with order pulling if needed in order to ship on time. Must know different grades of lumber and lengths, the different building materials that are used in a house.
