Tree Inventory Technician /
Urban Forestry Specialist PAY:
$17.50 - $22 per hour, depending on experience
EMPLOYMENT TYPE
Full-time (Monday-Friday)
LOCATION
Based in Miami, with projects throughout Miami-Dade County and occasionally in adjacent counties
ABOUT TREESOURCES
Treesources is an arboriculture and green infrastructure firm rooted in ecological restoration, arboriculture, and green infrastructure planning. We serve communities and ecosystems through data-driven tree care, protected species evaluations, permitting support, and hands-on restoration. Our team includes arborists, biologists, and environmental specialists working together to restore ecological health in urban and natural systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Tree Assessments & Fieldwork — Accompany consulting arborists on site visits. Conduct tree inventories (species ID, diameter measurements, health and condition assessments, GPS/GIS data capture, photo documentation). Assist with root zone assessments, soil health evaluations, and air spade investigations. Follow all safety protocols. Data Management & Report Preparation — Organize and maintain records of tree assessments and project documentation. Input data into management software, prepare detailed client reports, and support GIS mapping for inventories and municipal deliverables. Client Communication & Coordination — Serve as a point of contact for clients. Schedule site visits, coordinate with field crews, attend project meetings, and support permitting processes (tree protection, mangrove management, environmental compliance). Professional Development & SOPs — Stay current on arboricultural best practices. Build knowledge of Miami-Dade tree protection ordinances and Florida Building Code. Contribute to defining, improving, and documenting SOPs as the role develops.
REQUIREMENTS
Must Have Genuine interest in trees, urban ecology, and environmental stewardship Knowledge of Florida tree specimen Comfortable working outdoors in South Florida conditions and on sites with construction or other physical hazards Reliable transportation to office and field sites across Miami-Dade County Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Calendar) or Microsoft Office Detail-oriented with strong observation skills and commitment to data accuracy Strong written communication Self-motivated learner who takes initiative Strongly Preferred Coursework or field experience in arboriculture, forestry, horticulture, GIS, or environmental consulting Familiarity with South Florida native and tropical species Experience with GIS software (Arc
GIS, QGIS
), Treeplotter, or GPS data collection tools Bilingual English/Spanish Knowledge of Miami-Dade County environmental regulations and permitting processes

GROWTH PATH
This role is a launchpad for a career in arboriculture and urban forestry. ISA Certified Arborist certification is an essential professional development goal. With demonstrated performance, the trajectory includes increasing technical responsibility, independent field assessments, client-facing consulting work, and expanded credentials (TRAQ and beyond). 30/60/90-day performance check-ins followed by annual reviews with pay evaluation.
REQUIREMENTS
