Job Description
PUBLIC WORKS/UTILITIES DEPARTMENT
PLANTS Under direction of the Plants Manager, the purpose of the position is to order, receive, store, and distribute a large and varied stock of materials, equipment, parts, and supplies; to maintain and manage inventory levels and related documentation; to validate invoices covering material coming into the storerooms; to provide for the safe custody of stock and to ensure proper access to necessary items in a safe, efficient, cost-effective and controlled manner. Employee oversees and conducts procurement, issuance, recording and receipt of tools, equipment and supplies for Plants Division employees. Ensures maintenance of appropriate stock levels of frequently utilized items to support unit efficiency; manages inventory maintenance, recording and procedures. Communicates with supervisors, employees, vendors, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems. Locates, secures, and purchases tools, materials, supplies and equipment. Locates, secures, and purchases petroleum products for the Division, including gasoline, diesel fuel, oils, and lubricants. Maintains storerooms and storage areas in an organized manner. Executes receipt, transfer, storage, and distribution of materials, supplies, tools equipment and other items specific to the assigned functional area and Division vehicles. Works with vendors to determine best procurement practices for goods and/or services. Prepares requisitions for materials, supplies, and equipment needs; submits such for administrative approval. Maintains records and routine reports on the receipt, transfer, and distribution of warehoused items under area of responsibility; compiles daily and monthly fuel reports. Processes invoices for parts, supplies, tools, and fuel using purchase orders and credit cards. Maintains various records and reports related to inventory control, including monthly and quarterly reports, receiving invoices, and product inquiries and order status. Maintains a complete and up-to-date inventory of all tools, equipment and supplies assigned to the areas of responsibility; conducts annual inventory. Conducts light custodial duties providing clean, orderly and safe environmental conditions of assigned warehouse areas; adhere to City safety standards in processing receipts and storage.ADDITIONALPOSITIONFUNCTIONS
Performs related duties as directed when such duties are a logical and appropriate assignment to the position. High School Diploma or GED equivalent; supplemented by four (4) years of experience in inventory control, purchasing, logistics, warehouse inventory, and clerical work. Must possess a current and valid Florida Driver's License. May require Skid Steer Certification based on area of operation. Employee shall obtain the National Incident Management System ICS-100 Introduction to the Incident Command System and IS-700 National Incident Management System, An Introduction within six (6) months of employment. The following courses are designed to provide a baseline, as they introduce basic NIMS and ICS concepts and provide the foundation for higher-level Emergency Operations Center (EOC), MACS, and ICS-related training.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in physical inventory. Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to perform routine typing and basic computer operations, i.e., data entry, word processing and records retrieval. Ability to access, operate and maintain various software applications; ability to read, update and maintain various records and files. Ability to operate basic office equipment, e.g., computer terminals, printers, copy machines, telephone systems, facsimile machines. Knowledge of supply sources and product developments. Knowledge of materials, tools, and equipment processes utilized in inventory management and warehousing maintenance. Knowledge of assigned department's policies, priorities and work schedules. Knowledge of business English and spelling; knowledge of basic level mathematical computations, including addition, subtraction, division and multiplication. Interpersonal skills for effectively interacting with internal staff, vendors and others in providing and receiving information in a courteous and friendly manner. Ability to organize work, establish priorities, meet established deadlines, and follow up on assignments with a minimum of direction. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Ability to perform work in a utility-based environment, where heightened awareness of surroundings and observance of established safety precautions is essential in avoidance of injury or accidents. Ability to perform work with exposure to disagreeable elements, e.g., heat, humidity. Ability to operate various automobiles and transport vehicles, e.g., car, utility truck, utility van.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is occasionally required to push and/or pull over 100 pounds. While performing the essential functions of this position the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals, work near moving mechanical parts, and risk of electrical shock.THE CITY OF SANFORD IS A DRUG FREE
