Job Description

Description Job Summary:
The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for managing, monitoring, and maintaining accurate inventory records across the organization. This role ensures optimal stock levels, coordinates inventory movements, and implements inventory management best practices to support operational efficiency and cost control.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Conduct regular physical inventory counts and cycle counts to verify inventory accuracy and reconcile discrepancies. Process and verify inventory receipts, ensuring accuracy of quantiles, quality, and documentation. Input inventory data into the warehouse management system (WMS) and maintain accurate records. Identify and investigate inventory vacancies, obsolete items, and slow-moving stock. Prepare detailed inventory reports and analysis for management review. Organize and maintain proper storage location identification and labeling. Assist in implementing inventory control procedures and process improvements. Support year-end physical inventory and audit preparations. Communicate inventory status to relevant departments and escalate issues as needed.
Requirements Skills/Abilities:
Proficiency with warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory software Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis Proficiency with barcode scanning and RFID technology Experience with inventory valuation methods (FIFO, LIFO, weighted average) Ability to operate warehouse equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks) - certification preferred Knowledge of inventory management principles and best practices Strong attention to detail and accuracy Excellent organizational and time management skills Effective communication and teamwork abilities Problem-solving and analytical thinking Ability to work independently and take initiative Adaptability and willingness to learn new systems
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED; Associate degree in logistics, supply chain, or related field preferred 2-5 years of experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, or supply chain management
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk and sit. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 - 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.
Working Conditions:
