The primary duty station for this position is located at NASA's Stennis Space Center in Hancock County, Mississippi. This position reports administratively to the Mississippi-Alabama Sea Grant Consortium (MASGC) Director and receives day-to-day technical supervision from the Gulf of Mexico Coastal Ocean Observing System (GCOOS). The position includes dual supervisory oversight from MASGC and GCOOS. Preference will be given to applications received within the first five (5) days of the posting. Job Summary The Physical Oceanography Model Inventory Coordinator will identify physical oceanography models throughout the Gulf of America region, determine the capabilities of each of the models, and develop a robust inventory of the models that exist. They will work closely with the Gulf of America Coastal Ocean Observing System program and Mississippi-Alabama Sea Grant Consortium to identify sources of models and develop the inventory. They will also develop products to make the inventory easily accessible and understandable to modelers, forecasters, researchers and others. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Lead the development of an inventory of physical oceanography models to support Mississippi-Alabama Sea Grant Consortium (MASGC) partner, the Gulf of America Coastal Ocean Observing System (GCOOS) Support on the GCOOS administrative team and participate in remote and in-person (if possible) meetings and events in the Gulf region and participate in joint

project meetings Develop a comprehensive technical report of the physical oceanography model inventory and work with the GCOOS team to develop a web interface that shares the same information Help distribute the final technical report and meet all reporting requirements Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Master's degree in marine science, physical oceanography or related field Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of physical oceanography, coastal processes, ocean observing systems, and numerical modeling applications. Knowledge of scientific data management and technical literature review. Experience with GIS, data visualization, or scientific software applications. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to organize multiple assignments and work independently. Ability to analyze technical information and develop recommendations. Ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external partners. Ability to travel within the Gulf region as needed. Preferred Qualifications Experience using, evaluating, or interpreting physical oceanographic or coastal numerical models.
