Job Description

Position Summary Piedmont Metals is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Inventory & Receiving Specialist to support inventory accuracy, material flow, and receiving operations across our manufacturing facilities. This role is responsible for receiving and verifying incoming materials, maintaining accurate inventory records, coordinating material availability with production, and ensuring inventory transactions are properly documented within our ERP system. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, takes ownership of inventory accuracy, and works closely with purchasing, production, and warehouse teams to support operational success. Key Responsibilities Receive, inspect, and verify incoming materials, supplies, and components. Compare packing slips and shipping documentation against purchase orders and receiving records. Accurately enter receiving transactions and inventory movements into the ERP system. Schedule and coordinate inbound deliveries with suppliers and carriers. Maintain inventory accuracy through routine cycle counts and inventory audits. Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, damaged shipments, and receiving issues. Communicate material shortages, inventory concerns, and delivery updates to purchasing and production teams. Monitor material availability to support production schedules and operational requirements. Maintain organized storage locations and inventory records. Follow all company safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment. Support continuous improvement initiatives related to inventory control and warehouse processes. Qualifications Required 2-5 years of experience in inventory control, receiving, warehouse operations, or a related role. Experience using ERP systems for inventory management and transaction processing. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Ability to read and interpret purchase orders, packing slips, and shipping documents. Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks. Preferred Manufacturing, metal fabrication, or industrial environment experience. Forklift certification or ability to become certified. Experience with barcode scanning systems and inventory tracking technology. Experience participating in cycle count programs and inventory audits. Familiarity with Sage Intacct or similar manufacturing ERP systems. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Inventory management and inventory accuracy best practices. ERP inventory transaction processing. Basic warehouse and material handling procedures. OSHA and workplace safety awareness. Strong problem-solving and discrepancy resolution skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with purchasing, production, and operations teams. Reliable, organized, and process-driven approach to work. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the workday. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds periodically. Ability to operate warehouse equipment, including forklifts (if certified). Comfortable working in a manufacturing and warehouse environment.
