Job Description

An employee in this position oversees the daily operations of the warehouse facility and assists in inventory management for Harnett Regional Water.
This includes:
overseeing operations of the Department's warehouse; working with a variety of parts, equipment, and materials used in Department's construction and maintenance activities; differentiating among parts; entering data for work order processing; and generating relevant inventory control reports needed by the Department.

FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION
Maintains warehouse; initiates requisitions for the replacement of standard stock items and other multiple task clerical work. Issues stock and tools to work crews and updates inventories of stock and computer records. Keeps a large perpetual inventory of parts used in construction and maintenance. Purchases parts and materials from suppliers using proper procedures; maintains inventory control records; and ensuring that parts and supplies are charged correctly. Inspects deliveries for damaged equipment and supplies or discrepancies in quantity, size, type and terms of purchase orders. Determines order points for supplies and materials and orders as necessary; checks prices on incoming parts; and ensures appropriate credit on exchanges. Enters work order data from field crews into the utility work order database and generates relevant reports from the data. Keeps abreast of possible sources for parts; arranges appropriate transportation for parts to have available when needed. Communicates with crews by radio as emergency situations arise. Stocks shelves; maintains warehouse in a clean and orderly manner. Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK
High school diploma or equivalent; One (1) year of related experience, preferably supervisory experience; Or equivalent education and/or experience. Possession of a Forklift Operator's License desired. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and
ABILITIES
Knowledge of principles and practices of inventory control methods. Knowledge of utility related materials. Knowledge of computer applications related to the work. Knowledge of recordkeeping, report preparation, filling methods and records management techniques. Knowledge of County policies, procedures, and regulations. Knowledge of the principles of the principles and practices of water and sewer line construction and maintenance. Skill in using warehouse equipment. Ability to compute standard business mathematical computations with speed and accuracy. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal staff, vendors and others in order to give and extricate information in a courteous and friendly manner. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, orally and in writing. Ability to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions and so forth.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to perform medium work frequently exerting up to 30 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects; and occasionally requiring to exert up to 50 pounds of force to move objects. This work also involves the physical abilities of balancing, climbing, crouching, feeling, grasping, perceiving sounds at normal speaking levels, kneeling, lifting, having manual dexterity, using mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, performing repetitive motion, standing, stooping, expressing ideas by the spoken word, and walking. An incumbent must also possess the visual acuity to read maps and diagrams, to operate a vehicle and equipment, to operate a computer, to read and prepare reports, and to analyze data and figures.
