Full-Time Position Summary The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for overseeing inventory management, procurement, inventory accuracy, and supply chain support for the Long-Term Care Pharmacy. This position plays a critical role in ensuring adequate medication and supply levels, maintaining inventory integrity, supporting regulatory compliance, and optimizing pharmacy operations. In addition to inventory responsibilities, the Inventory Control Specialist provides operational support to pharmacy staff, assisting with medication fulfillment processes and daily pharmacy workflow as needed. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, analytical, and capable of working independently while collaborating with pharmacy staff, vendors, and organizational departments. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Inventory Management & Procurement Maintain accurate inventory levels for medications, medical supplies, and operational materials. Monitor inventory trends and usage patterns to identify reorder needs and maintain optimal stock levels. Order inventory within established purchasing guidelines and approved limits. Establish and maintain backup inventory for high-demand and critical medications. Receive, inspect, stock, and organize incoming inventory shipments. Maintain accurate records of inventory receipts, purchases, transfers, returns, and adjustments. Coordinate with vendors to ensure timely delivery and availability of products. Develop and maintain professional relationships with suppliers and vendor representatives. Analyze inventory reports to identify shortages, overstock situations, and inventory optimization opportunities. Generate inventory reports and provide updates to pharmacy leadership. Inventory Accuracy & Compliance Manage and maintain pharmacy inventory management systems and databases. Conduct routine cycle counts, spot checks, and inventory reconciliations. Assist with physical inventory audits. Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies. Monitor and manage expired, damaged, and slow-moving inventory. Ensure compliance with inventory control procedures, storage requirements, and company policies. Support continuous improvement initiatives related to inventory accuracy and operational efficiency. Teamwork & Communication Collaborate with pharmacists, technicians, leadership, and other departments to ensure inventory and operational needs are met. Communicate inventory concerns, shortages, and purchasing recommendations proactively. Demonstrate accountability, initiative, and strong problem-solving skills. Contribute to a culture of quality, accuracy, customer service, and continuous improvement. Qualifications Required High school diploma or equivalent. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Proficiency with computer systems and inventory management software. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and inventory analysis. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to lift, move, and organize inventory and supplies. Preferred Inventory management, purchasing, warehouse, supply chain, retail inventory, healthcare inventory, or related experience. FrameWork LTC experience. Pharmacy Technician experience or certification. Experience in a healthcare, pharmacy, long-term care, or regulated environment. Experience with automated inventory management systems and pharmacy technology. Knowledge of medication inventory controls and pharmaceutical purchasing practices.
