GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Inventory & Store Specialist II performs moderately complex (journey-level) inventory and/or retail sales work for the Federal Surplus Property Program. Work involves cashiering, stocking, sorting, displaying, and transferring inventory, displaying property; data entry and monitoring warehouse operations for compliance with established procedures. Works under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
The Inventory & Store Specialist II:
Maintains accounting records of purchases, assigns inventory numbers to items, and monitors inventory and stock control records following loss prevention and agency guidelines.
Prices and identifies merchandise according to agency policies and procedures, stocks shelves and store merchandise as required, and assists customers in finding products and making selections.
Loads and unloads stock and merchandise.
Records sales and collects credit card payments and receipts according to established guidelines and fiscal control procedures for retail environments.
Performs computer research for surplus property items and equipment.
Performs data entry and retrieval in accordance with warehouse procedures
Maintain records, complete, and file paperwork as necessary.
Assists with performing inventory.
Operates forklift, pallet jack, and other equipment needed for moving property.
Operates State motor vehicles, including box, bobtail, and pickup trucks, to perform some essential functions.
May coordinate with supervisors and vendors to arrange prompt transportation of equipment and other property (logistics).
May assist with pick-ups of property at various locations.
May perform minor maintenance on surplus vehicles and equipment.
May train others.
Performs related work as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent (GED).
Two (2) years of experience in property accounting, warehousing work, and/or inventory management.
Valid State of Texas Class C Drivers License
Education and experience may be substituted for one another.
Ability to maintain the security and integrity of the infrastructure of the State of Texas.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Working knowledge of warehousing and inventory methods and procedures.
Knowledge of inventory and stock control record keeping.
Knowledge of reporting procedures.
Skill in the use of a personal computer and applicable programs, applications, and systems.
Skill in the maintenance of record keeping and filing systems.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Ability to review warehouse operations for compliance with established procedures.
Ability to transfer stock from one location to another.
Skill in the use of forklifts, pallet jacks, and other heavy equipment.
Ability to operate a delivery vehicle.
Ability to train others.
WORK SCHEDULE
In-Office:
8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday.
Must be able to work flexible hours during a Legislative Session and as needed.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR WORKING CONDITIONS
This position operates in a warehouse environment. The position holder must be able to work effectively with people under varying conditions, must be able to work extended periods of time standing and/or walking and must be able to work longer than eight hours in a workday as necessary. Physical requirements also include the ability to:
Move up to 40 pounds without assistance
Move up to 75lbs with assistance of other individuals
Perform tasks requiring fine motor skills and coordination
