Role:
The Regional Pharmacy Tech & Inventory Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient operation of pharmacy services across multiple locations within the United States. This position is responsible for managing and optimizing inventory levels to guarantee the availability of medications and supplies while minimizing waste and cost. The specialist collaborates closely with pharmacy staff, suppliers, and regional management to implement best practices in inventory control and regulatory compliance. By leveraging data analysis and inventory management systems, the role supports seamless pharmacy operations that enhance patient care and safety. Ultimately, this position drives operational excellence and supports the strategic goals of the pharmacy network through meticulous inventory oversight and technical expertise.Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of an accredited pharmacy technician training program preferred.Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) from a recognized certifying body such as PTCB or NHA.Minimum of 3 years of experience working as a pharmacy technician, preferably with inventory management responsibilities.
Proficiency with pharmacy management software and inventory control systems.
Strong knowledge of pharmacy laws, regulations, and best practices related to medication handling and storage.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate degree or higher in Pharmacy Technology, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.Experience working in a multi-site or regional pharmacy environment.
Advanced skills in data analysis and reporting tools such as Excel or business intelligence software.
Familiarity with automated dispensing systems and electronic health record (EHR) integration.
Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience within a pharmacy setting.
Responsibilities:
Manage and monitor inventory levels across multiple regional pharmacy locations to ensure adequate stock of medications and supplies.Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to place orders, track shipments, and resolve discrepancies or delays.
Utilize pharmacy management and inventory software to maintain accurate records and generate reports on stock usage and trends.
Support pharmacy technicians and pharmacists by providing technical assistance and training related to inventory processes and systems.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations regarding medication storage, handling, and documentation.
Conduct regular audits and cycle counts to verify inventory accuracy and identify areas for improvement.
Collaborate with regional management to develop and implement inventory control policies and procedures.
Analyze inventory data to forecast demand, reduce waste, and optimize purchasing decisions.
Skills:
The required skills enable the specialist to efficiently manage inventory systems, ensuring accurate tracking and timely replenishment of medications and supplies. Proficiency in pharmacy software allows for seamless coordination with suppliers and internal teams, reducing errors and improving operational flow. Knowledge of regulatory requirements ensures compliance and patient safety in all inventory-related activities. Preferred skills such as data analysis and familiarity with automated systems enhance the ability to forecast demand and optimize stock levels, contributing to cost savings and improved service delivery.
