This position will work under the supervision of the Supervising State Park Ranger and Peace Officer PA Lead. The Park Aide (Seasonal) is responsible for operating the entrance station to the park. (Primarily San Buenaventura

•Main Day, San Buenaventura

•Pier Lot, Emma Wood Group Camp.) The duties include but are not limited to selling accountable day use documents, printing and preparing passes, using a computer and cash register proficiently, generating reports, engaging in customer service, answering questions, general problem solving, and light maintenance work. The park aide will perform the routine duties dressed in a full California State Parks uniform and adhering to the grooming standards of the Department. The uniform will be purchased by the Park Aide and will be clean and be in good condition at the start of each workday. This position may work up to 1500 hours within 12 consecutive months. This position is designated as not telework eligible. The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment. Possession of a valid driver's license of the appropriate class and a safe driving record as documented by the Department of Motor Vehicles within 60 days prior to appointment. (A safe driving record is one free from convictions in the past two years for repeated moving violations or a single serious violation, such as drunk driving or reckless driving.) Working Conditions Work Environment:

Work outdoors in various types of weather or work in unpleasant conditions. Work environment may have moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. May involve some exposure to aggressive visitors. Work near fast moving traffic. May work inside an office.

Physical Abilities:

Ability to perform manual labor (e.g. lifting, carrying, loading). Requires repetitive movement of heavy objects. Stand for long periods of time (up to 2 hours) to perform the duties associated with the job.

Cognitive Abilities:

Read, write and speak in a clear and concise manner. Develop practical solutions to problems to make sound decisions. Performing basic mathematical computations associate with assigned duties. Make sound decisions given available information and situational parameters. Skill to utilize measurements (e.g., tsp, tbsp, quart) to measure, mix and apply various chemical solutions.
