View More Jobs Route Driver/Material Handler-2nd Shift Southington, CT, United States (On-site) Apply Now Job Description 2nd shift hours are Monday through Friday, 2pm to 10:30pm The Route Driver is responsible for managing times and routes between three company facilities to ensure streamlined delivery and pickup service of raw material, WIP, finished goods and other supplies to ensure support for company operations and production requirements. Vehicle is a 26-foot box truck - CDL not required. Locations are within a 4-mile radius. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Load and unload materials or packages using powered industrial equipment, manual pallet jack, hand truck and/or motorized carts. Ensure needed product is delivered from warehouse to production sites. Pick up goods/supplies/packages from the production sites for delivery to warehouse. Plan most efficient delivery and pickup schedules to minimize delays and production downtime. Inspect and maintain vehicle; add fluids, check tires, brakes, lights and fuel. Report any vehicle mechanical problems to Supervisor. Maintain required vehicle and warehouse logs. Prepare parcel and pallet shipments as required (UPS, FedEx, USPS, LTL etc.). Organize warehouse/work area - maintain in a neat and orderly manner. Ensure continued good housekeeping in work environment. Follow all safety requirements as set forth by the company. Assist with physical inventory processes. Perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned. Knowledge & Skills Ability to interact with personnel at all facilities in a professional manner. Ability to effectively and efficiently plan schedules with minimum supervision. Must have open availability and able to work OT as needed. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of and ability to use computer and associated systems. Minimum Qualifications, Education & Experience 1 year of prior experience driving a box truck and warehousing experience. Valid driver's license required; clean driving record. High School Diploma or GED required. Extensive forklift experience is required. Ability to be certified to company requirements. Must be at least 18 years of age Work Environment Work is performed in a warehouse environment with moving equipment, requiring attentiveness to ensure safety at all times. Must be able to sit for periods required while driving company truck. Extensive use of a forklift or other material moving equipment. Must be able to operate such equipment for extended periods of time.
