Job Description
We are looking for hard-working, reliable and safety minded individuals to join our team as a De-Pollution Laborer. You will be responsible for the work on vehicle de-pollution rack to remove fluids from vehicles before crushing. unloading, processing, and disassembly of various types of scrap metal; yard clean up and maintenance; and other general physical labor duties to ensure the highest quality of scrap material is processed and shipped to our customers in a safe, effective manner. The Postion plays a critical role in our vehicle recycling process. You will operate the vehicle de-pollution rack to safely extract all hazardous fluids, gases, and materials from end-of-life vehicles before they are crushed or moved to the salvage yard. This role requires strict adherence to environmental regulations (EPA) and safety guidelines (OSHA) while maintaining a fast-paced workflow. Responsibilities Operate safety equipment, and use safe work habits Drain all vehicle fluids including motor oil, transmission fluid, coolant, fuel, brake fluid, and power steering fluid using specialized extraction machinery. Extract chemicals from discarded appliances, such as air conditioners or refrigerators, using specialized machinery Work on vehicle de-pollution rack to remove fluids from Vehicles before crushing Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, power lifts, or front-end loaders to load bales, bundles, or other heavy items Sort materials into appropriate containers for recycling Conduct daily inspections of de-pollution racks, tools, and storage tanks, immediately reporting any defects or required repairs daily inspections on equipment reporting any defects or needed repairs to supervisor. Qualifications & Skills Must be 18 years of age or older Ability to learn new tasks as assigned required
Education:
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience Previous experience in auto salvage, automotive repair, or general scrap yard manufacturing is highly preferred Basic understanding of EPA guidelines for hazardous waste disposal and OSHA industrial safety standards Competency using pneumatic tools, hand wrenches, fluid drills, and basic machinery Uncompromising commitment to safety, strict punctuality, high attention to detail, and a strong work ethic Must be able to pass a pre-employment medical physical, drug screening, and criminal background check. Good communication skills Committed to safety work in outdoor all-weather conditions Bi-lingual (English and Spanish); a plus Honesty and integrity. Reliable, Good Work ethic Ability to carry out instructions provided in written, oral, or diagrammatic form
Education:
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk on uneven yard ground for a full 8-to-10-hour shift in all-weather outdoor environments Regularly lift, carry, push, and pull components Continuous crouching, bending at the waist, kneeling, and reaching overhead to access under-vehicle components Fine motor skills required to operate hand tools, safely disconnect tight hoses, and manipulate small automotive parts This position will work outside in varying weather conditions, and SA Recycling strictly adheres to all Metals Recycling Business Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.
