Duties & Responsibilities o Ensure that correct species, dimensions, quality of product are prepared for cutting by referring to work order. o Operates machine in a safe manner by following safety rules an operational procedure. o Adjusts machine for cutting depth and feed rate according to thickness and species of product to be planed. o Loads boards in consecutive sequence onto feed conveyor that conveys boards through machine planning operation. o Assist with stacking and bundling of product for outbound shipments. o Wear personal protective equipment as required. o Comply with Health and Safety rules, policies and procedures of the company and the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) particularly the "Duties of Workers" as stated in Section 28. o Perform housekeeping activities as required. o Perform compulsory overtime as necessary and in accordance with legislative requirements. o Participate in training as required. o Other duties as required. Knowledge & Skills Required o High school equivalent o 3-6 months previous experience o Ability to operate a machine o Ability to read and follow directions o Good verbal and written skills o Strong initiative and follow-up skills o Strong team player Physical demands: o Work performed can be both physically demanding and repetitive in nature. o Ability to lift and carry heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds. o Stand and walk for extended periods. o Bend, stoop, and reach overhead. o Work in various weather conditions, including hot and cold temperatures. o Work in environments with varying air quality conditions, which may include exposure to dust, fumes, and other airborne contaminants. o Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
