We are currently seeking dependable, safety-focused Laborer to join our team at our Valparaiso, IN location.

Key Responsibilities:

Execute general labor tasks, including site maintenance (sweeping, shoveling, mowing) and material handling. Strictly adhere to all Smith Ready Mix, Inc and OSHA safety regulations, ensuring consistent use of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Maintain a high standard of safety excellence in all operations. Complete additional operational tasks as directed by management.

Physical Requirements & Environment:

Physical Demand:

Heavy work involving frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs and occasional force up to 100 lbs. Requires significant walking, sitting, climbing, and pulling.

Environment:

Regular exposure to outdoor elements, including extreme temperatures and high-noise levels.

Communication:

Must be able to communicate effectively to maintain safety around heavy rolling equipment.

Qualifications:

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent education. Expereince operating a skid steer or forklift is a plus. Physical ability to climb, bend, and stoop as needed for daily tasks. Clean driving record that meets insurability standards. Proficiency in reading and writing English with legible handwriting. Strong work ethic, reliability, and a commitment to workplace safety.

Requirement:

must provide own safety-approved boots. These positions are full-time seasonal jobs with winter layoff possible. Successful applicants may be converted to permanent full-time employees upon demonstrating their skills and abilities.
