Job Description

Town of Greenville Public Works Department Laborer/Operator The Town of Greenville is seeking a highly motivated individual with experience or relevant experience in Public Works as a Laborer & Operator. In this position, you will be participating in a wide range of service functions including street maintenance, building maintenance, landscape maintenance, plowing and sanding as well as other various tasks. This is a skilled position that performs quality manual labor and the operation of both light and heavy equipment. Experience in snow removal and road maintenance is preferred, but not mandatory. Applicants must be motivated with a positive attitude who wants to work in a team environment. The ideal candidate should also be flexible due to the changing work environment. Proficiency in operating and maintaining various equipment and machinery as well as the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions is required. The position offers a starting wage at $22.00/hr. and a comprehensive benefit package which includes paid health insurance (for employee), a retirement plan, paid vacation, 12 paid holidays, and sick time. Overtime is available on an as-needed basis. A year-round schedule of 6:30am -4:30pm Tuesday thru Friday. That's right; 3-day weekends! Qualified applicants must possess a clean valid Class B/CDL license or higher and have a High School Diploma or equivalent. However, if the candidate has a valid Class C License and is willing to obtain the Class B/CDL License within 6 months of start date; candidate may be considered for this position. Once the Class B/CDL License is achieved; the hourly rate of pay will increase. Additionally, applicants must successfully complete a background check and pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test. This position is subject to random drug and alcohol testing as well.
