Job Description

We are seeking a dependable, hardworking Driver Helper to support our recycling collection operations throughout Maine. The Driver Helper works alongside the route driver to safely and efficiently collect recyclable materials from redemption centers. This is a physically active position that requires working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. The ideal candidate is reliable, safety-conscious, comfortable with physical work, and able to work well as part of a team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist the driver with daily recycling collection routes. Safely collect and load recyclable materials into the collection vehicle. Help identify and report contaminated or improperly placed materials. Keep the truck, equipment, and work areas clean and orderly. Follow all company safety procedures and recycling collection guidelines. Communicate professionally with customers and members of the public. Perform routine lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of recycling containers and materials.
Qualifications:
Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential. Ability to perform physically demanding work throughout the workday. Ability to repeatedly lift, carry, push, and pull materials and containers. Comfortable working outdoors in hot, cold, rainy, and snowy conditions. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Strong teamwork and communication skills. Commitment to safe work practices.
Physical Requirements:
This position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, climbing on and off the collection vehicle, and lifting or moving recycling materials. Employees must be able to safely perform physical tasks repeatedly throughout their shift.
