This role goes beyond basic forklift operation—you will be responsible for building, balancing, and loading outbound freight to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient transportation. This is a hands-on, fast-paced position that requires experience, awareness, and the ability to work independently. We are looking for someone who understands how a dock runs and can keep freight moving without constant direction. This is not an entry-level role. Candidates must have prior experience loading trucks with proper weight distribution. Key Responsibilities Operate a forklift safely and efficiently to load, unload, and move freight across the dock Build and load outbound trucks with proper weight distribution and balance for DOT compliance Rework and adjust loads as needed to ensure safety and efficiency Maximize trailer space through strategic freight placement Maintain awareness of dock flow and keep operations moving without supervision Coordinate with drivers and warehouse team to ensure smooth loading/unloading Keep dock areas clean, organized, and safe Perform daily equipment checks and report any maintenance issues Step in and assist with general warehouse or crossdock tasks as needed Requirements Proven experience operating a forklift in a warehouse or crossdock environment Strong understanding of truck loading, weight distribution, and freight balancing Ability to work independently and make decisions without constant oversight Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume dock environment Strong work ethic and reliability (attendance matters in this role) Ability to handle physical work and stay productive throughout the shift Preferred Qualifications Experience reworking loads for DOT weight compliance Background in crossdock, LTL, or high-turn freight environments Prior shipping & receiving or dock coordination experience Job Type Part-time Benefits Health insurance On-the-job training Opportunities for advancement Work Location In person
