Location 2 Manhattan Drive, Burlington Township, NJ, 08016, United States Base Pay $18.00 / Hour Job Category Recycling Employee Type Regular Full Time Contact information Name Elizabeth Barker Phone (609)267-6677 Ext. 1303 Email Ebarker@otcbc.org Description Convenience Center (Bulk trash, various electronics: TV's/monitors, computers, etc.; tires, metal, rigid plastic, mattresses/box springs, household Recyclables, various types of wood, shingles, propane tanks, refrigerated appliances) The laborer's job is to assist customers as they arrive. Check to make sure they have a paper from the scale house that indicates what they are disposing of. Once confirmed, initial the form and hand it back to them. Direct the customer to the appropriate area to drop off the material they are looking to dispose of. Monitor the customer(s) as they unload to ensure that they are not dumping anything they are not supposed to (this could be but not limited to: any type of chemical - paint/stain/cleaning supplies/used motor oil/etc.; any type of asbestos material; old fuel; etc.). (These products are required to be dropped off at the Hazardous Waste facility which is on-site at the landfill). The laborer is also required to keep the area clean and in-order. Clean Wood Pile (Clean wood, tree parts and treated wood) The laborer's job is to assist customers as they arrive. Check to make sure they have a paper from the scale house that indicates what they are disposing of. Once confirmed, initial the form and hand it back to them. Direct the customer to the appropriate area to drop off the material they are looking to dispose of. Monitor the customer(s) as they unload to ensure that they are not dumping anything they are not supposed to (this could be but not limited to: any type of chemical - paint/stain/cleaning supplies/used motor oil/etc; any type of asbestos material; old fuel; etc). (These products are required to be dropped off at the Hazardous Waste facility which is on-site at the landfill). When customers are dropping off wood material, they should be monitored closely so that they are not dropping off any bulk metal, concrete, bricks and/or blocks into the designated wood pile(s). Mixed Wood The laborer's job is to assist customers as they arrive. Check to make sure they have a paper from the scale house that indicates what they are disposing of. Once confirmed, initial the form and hand it back to them. Direct the customer to the appropriate area to drop off the material they are looking to dispose of. Monitor the customer(s) as they unload to ensure that they are not dumping anything they are not supposed to (this could be but not limited to: any type of chemical - paint/stain/cleaning supplies/used motor oil/etc; any type of asbestos material; old fuel; etc). (These products are required to be dropped off at the Hazardous Waste facility which is on-site at the landfill). Inspection area Monitor traffic coming towards you and stop the vehicles to either inspect their load and or direct them where to go according to the material. Contact the appropriate equipment operator in the respected area to inform them of the customer. You may be asked to fulfill other laborer duties other than working at either of the two previous areas. This could include but not limited to: cleaning up specific areas, power washing vehicles/equipment, stacking tires in trailers, emptying fire extinguishers; dismantling refrigerate items such as air conditioners, dehumidifiers; refrigerators; etc. Schedule is Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:30pm and alternating Saturdays from 7:00am-12:30pm Benefits Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance Retirement Account Employee Assistance Program PTO Tuition Reimbursement Supportive, Mission-Driven work environment Department specific benefits may apply Requirements HS Diploma or GED required, One Year of Related experience, Ability to communicate effectively, Ability to work outside for the entire shift in varying elements, Experience with Hand Tools, Minor Mechanical Skills, Able to Lift up to 50 lbs, Adaptable to work outside in the elements as well as dusty and noisy conditions.
Necessary Special Requirements:
Employee will be required to complete all clearances as necessary per regulatory requirements. Summary The landfill laborer assists in the receiving of recyclable materials in a professional and efficient manner. He/she will also perform other duties as directed by management.
