Position Overview Outside Operations staff work outdoors to create, maintain, and operate the ski slopes, trails, lifts, and related facilities. The work is physical, weather-dependent, and focused on safety and guest experience. Shifts often include early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays, especially during snowmaking and grooming seasons. Willing to train! Primary Responsibilities Duties vary by specific role but commonly include: Snowmaking Technician Set up, operate, move, monitor, and shut down snowmaking equipment (guns, hoses, hydrants, pumps). Create and maintain snow coverage and quality across trails using high-pressure air and water systems. Check snow texture and make adjustments as needed. Perform basic maintenance on equipment before, during, and after use. Communicate weather changes and conditions to the team. Assist with snow removal or other outdoor tasks as needed.

Groomer / Snowcat

Operator Operate grooming machines (snowcats) to prepare and maintain skiing and snowboarding surfaces. Smooth bumps, reshape trails, maintain snow depth, pack snow, and cover obstacles. Handle hauling, dozing, or other support tasks for the mountain. Perform pre- and post-shift equipment checks and basic maintenance. Follow all safety guidelines and maintain communication with the crew. Lift Operator / Attendant (often under Outside or Mountain Operations) Assist guests with safe loading and unloading of ski lifts. Monitor lift operations, check tickets/passes, and maintain loading/unloading areas. Maximize uphill capacity while providing friendly service, especially to beginners. Keep lift areas clean and clear of snow/ice. Respond to basic issues and report problems. General Outside Operations duties (may overlap across roles) Snow removal around facilities, trails, and access areas. Basic equipment setup, breakdown, and light maintenance. Support trail inspections or hazard marking. Assist other departments (e.g., lift ops or tubing) as needed. Follow all safety protocols and report issues promptly. Work as part of a team in changing conditions. Qualifications Must typically be 18 years or older. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Enjoyment of outdoor work in all weather (cold, snow, wind, night shifts) is essential. Valid driver's license often required (for operating vehicles or equipment).

Physical fitness:

ability to lift 40-50+ lbs, walk on uneven/slippery surfaces, and work long hours outdoors. Prior experience operating equipment (snowcats, snowmobiles, ATVs) or in outdoor/ski environments is preferred for specialized roles like grooming or snowmaking; customer service experience helps for lift roles. Ability to follow safety procedures, communicate clearly, and work independently or in a team. CPR/First Aid is a plus (sometimes provided or required).

Pay:

$17.50 - $25.00 per hour Expected hours: 30.0 - 60.0 per week
